We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Business Manager (UI/UX Design) - INS COE_BUSINESS SME_CHINA_GZ.

Principal responsibilities

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Translate customer insights and business goals into elegant, functional designs.
  • Deliver best in class digital experiences that make a difference in customers’ lives.
  • Apply UX/UI best practices and design systems to create consistent, accessible interfaces across web and mobile platforms.
  • Collaborate with researchers and product managers to integrate user feedback and data into design improvements.
  • Support and contribute to the maintenance of design standards, pattern libraries, and visual style guides.
  • Work with developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs.

Your key responsibilities:

  • UX writing: writes clear, concise, user-friendly microcopy that helps guide users through tasks
  • User-centred design thinking: empathise with users, solve problems from the customer perspective, conduct research to gather insight (qualitative and usability testing).
  • Wireframing & prototyping: able to quickly translate ideas into wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Visual design: strong grasp of all visual elements, including motion, micro-interaction, and attention to visual hierarchy.
  • Interactive design: can create intuitive experiences that make it easy for customers to interact
  • Information architecture: ability to structure and organise content effectively with clear content hierarchy.
  • Communication: strong written and verbal communication and ability to explain design decisions.
  • Curiosity: intellectually curious and always looking to improve the customer experience
  • Deliver end-to-end design work including sketches, wireframes, mock-ups, interactive prototypes, and final visual designs.
  • Collaborate across markets to understand cultural nuances and regulatory requirements that impact user experience.
  • Advocate for design excellence, communicate and present design concepts clearly and effectively to stakeholders, influencing strategic decisions with your expertise and passion for design.
  • Contribute to the evolution of HSBC's design system and ensure alignment with global brand standards.
  • Conduct or collaborate on user journey mapping, usability testing, and interface audits.
  • Participate in design critiques and feedback sessions to iterate and improve design outcomes.
  • Communicate design rationale and decision-making clearly to stakeholders and peers.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, risk management, and accessibility standards.
  • Elevate design quality, establish and maintain a world-class quality bar for UI design, ensuring that every product we deliver is both visually striking and functionally seamless.  
Requirements

Experience required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in UX and UI design, preferably in a fast-paced or large-scale environment.
  • Experience with UX writing and crafting clear, user-centered copy as part of the design process.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating responsive and mobile-first design and showing how those designs have created meaningful impact or delivered value to users or the business.
  • Familiarity with user journey mapping, UI/UX research, and workflow design.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility principles and how to implement them.
  • Experience collaborating in Agile or cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in insurance, wealth or premier banking is preferred.

Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.
