The Equity Advisory team is responsible for generating investment ideas and promoting them to internal and external audiences (i.e. HSBC Private Bank Investment Counsellors, Relationship Managers and clients), and managing the entire lifecycle of the Equity Advisory Mandate portfolios (which includes amongst other things the investment management of existing positions, reviewing and pitching new positions and adhering to best execution principles during the order entry and execution process).

In this role you will:
- The jobholder must be able to maintain coverage and follow the development of existing investment ideas and themes, while simultaneously be working on new ideas (i.e. deadline and time management skills are important for the role) and driving the commercial targets of the team, which include but are not limited to asset growth, investment performance and collaboration with the Structured Product desk.
- The Equity Advisory aligns his stock picking exercise alongside HSBC Private Bank’s Global Investment Committee strategic views, but is also expected to work on bespoke equity portfolios on behalf of advisory clients and also helps generate single stock, sector and country index ideas with the Structured Product teams.
- The jobholder must demonstrate superior company analytical knowledge and a good understanding of business and valuation models, allowing her/him to synthetize complex concepts to audiences of varying degrees of sophistication – including UHNWI’s.
- The Equity Advisory contributes to the strategic House View, and as such should also have a strong understanding of global sectoral and style factors – able to link bottom up stock recommendations into a broader top down context. Advisory equity specialists must also be able to advise and comment on global stocks, even if there are regional specialities for content production (US, Europe, Asia).
- Proven experience in global equity markets in a sales or analyst or portfolio manager role. Ideal profile would be Private Banking Advisory / Product Specialist, but we will also consider candidates coming from Equity Sell-Side and Buy-side (Asset Management)
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Office with deep knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint. Avaloq experience would be a big plus
- Strong understanding of global equity markets
- Well-developed analytical capabilities with equity analysis and selling experience
- A firm understanding of the macroeconomic factors influencing equity markets
- Proven experience in managing advisory equity mandates/equity portfolios
- Client facing experience
- Excellent presentation skills
- Strong presentation and communication skills (written and verbal) in English are required – with expert knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel and Bloomberg
