We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Software Engineering Manager.

 

Business: Global Ops & Automation IT

 

Principal responsibilities

Strategy and delivery management:

  • Ensures alignment of the Technology roadmap and strategy with the agreed Outcome OKRs e.g organisation design, location strategy, process optimisation and technology governance.
  • Is accountable for end-to-end technology outcome delivery, managing creation and deployment of technology solutions for customers.
  • Tracks and communicates feasibility of delivery within Outcome Streams, supporting investment cases, hypothesis testing, and analysing demand from Outcome Streams.
  • Assesses feasibility of existing solutions’ replication and generate appropriate solution proposal, assess feasibility of delivery for proposed solutions and the readiness to build them to support prioritisation of backlog.
  • Work with Head of Software Engineering, Architects, Product Transformation Leads and Platform Leads to drive the agenda of solution pattern evolvement and enabler roadmap development.
  • Ensures delivery adheres to delivery standards including Solution Controls Frameworks and Business Transformation Frameworks.
  • Defines key non-functional requirements for the solution to be developed.

 

Team and capacity optimisation:

  • Leads teams (e.g., 60-100+ FTE) using agile methodologies, utilising a DevOps approach to ensure each digital product globally operates on a single code base and is delivered through teams operating a continuous integration and continuous delivery framework.
  • Optimises capacity (working within fixed capacity) to better align to strategic Outcome intent and reduce operational bottlenecks.

 

Governance and financial management:

  • Facilitates quarterly planning (e.g., QBR) and execute agreed objectives.
  • Manages risks and dependencies, resolves or escalates impediments, and optimises flow of work through delivery teams.
  • Owns the tracking of spend against budgets, ensuring budgets are adhered to, and managed in line with financial best practice.
  • Owns the Outcome charges to recover incurred costs and ensure effective communication of Portfolio level financial information.

 

Technology performance optimisation:

  • Drives high Technology service performance, resolving incidents in a timely fashion.
  • Measures, track and improve customer focused operational KPIs (e.g., customer servicing time, NPS).
  • Ensures appropriate global, reusable technologies and capabilities are leveraged for efficient technology delivery.

General 

  • Proven experience in a relevant role e.g., as a Technology Value Stream Lead, Senior Product Owner from a financial services organization background ideally
  • Evidence of strong technical knowledge and understanding of a variety of technologies and systems
  • Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to articulate technical concepts
  • At least 10 years of working experience in technology, 10 years in management/leadership capacity
  • Proven experience of partnering effectively with Executive Level business stakeholders e.g. Group General Managers and making commercially astute decisions
  • Evidence of transformation mind-set to delivery
  • Evidence of excellent leadership and people skills (change agent, decision making, influencing, communication)
  • Ability to work across cultures and locations in a complex, matrix organisation with colleagues from across 5 regions (North America, LATAM, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe) being respectful of different cultures

 

Functional Knowledge

  • Expert understanding of products, services, and underlying processes for Value Stream.
  • Experience of DevOps/DevSecOps or SCALE Agile processes
  • Ability to champion the customer in strategic and tactical decision-making scenarios
  • Ability to apply risk assessment and management principles and processes and find ways of solving or pre-empting issues.
  • Detailed understanding of multiple business areas and relevant technology domains
  • Ability to understand and deliver towards customer needs in large, global, complex organisations

Leadership & Teamwork 

  • Build and maintain the broad and diverse set of skills required to run and effective operational team 
  • Leadership of Sub Stream and related roles to ensure best practices for the team
  • Exceptional ability to lead diverse cross-functional teams, with strong people leadership, teamwork, gathering information and analysing, judgment, decision making and communication
  • Partner with Chief of Staff (CoS) and HR to ensure there is a strong colleague development framework in place including succession planning, diversity balance, nurturing, coaching, skills development, and career progression
  • Build a culture that supports innovation, learning, collaboration, transparency, and inclusiveness.
Requirements

The following responsibilities will be assumed by the Enabler Outcome Lead but can be delegated when required:

  • Act as the single IT owner for the IBS and the primary contact point for the BSO (Business Service Owner).
  • Accountable for ongoing maintenance of the IT Service Chain Maps to both the planned schedule (self-assessment) and trigger events.
  • Accountable for TRR assessment execution and delivering the remediation roadmap, aligning investment options with agreed resilience posture.
