We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering Specialist
In this role, you will:
- Lead the strategic planning, execution, and delivery of multiple projects and programs, ensuring alignment with business goals and client expectations.
- Drive end-to-end program governance, including planning, execution, tracking, and risk management for large-scale Java/ Python/ Cloud based projects.
- Drive continuous innovation, process improvements, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Oversee the design and architecture.
- Manage and mentor cross-functional teams, ensuring high performance, collaboration, and alignment with agile methodologies.
- Ensure on-time delivery of user stories within sprints while maintaining high code quality, security standards, and minimal defects.
- Work closely with stakeholders, product owners, and senior leadership to define roadmaps, resource planning, and execution strategies.
- Champion DevOps/MLOPS best practices, CI/CD implementation, and automation for improved software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Optimize cost, scalability, and performance of applications, ensuring robust cloud-native architecture.
- Establish and enforce security, compliance, and coding best practices for large-scale enterprise applications.
- Work across the full stack, building highly scalable distributed solutions that enable positive user experiences and measurable business growth.
- Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code developed meets coding best practices guidelines, unit testing, security, and scalability and maintainability guidelines.
- Reviewing and being responsible for code quality, facilitating development, testing support, production support and implementation of End-to-End Integration applications.
- Flexible to work in shifts and provide on-call support.
- Work with agile development methodologies, adhering to best practices and pursuing continued learning opportunities.
- Ensure compliance to end to end controls and HSBC standard processes.
- Be responsible for upskilling and management of pod teams.
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- 15-18 years of overall hands-on IT experience with mandatory exposure of 4-6 years in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BI tools like Looker.
- Proven experience in Open-source technologies and expertise in Java/ Python or any mainstream programming language.
- Experience in CI-CD pipeline build, GITHUB tooling, Shell Scripting, etc.
- Experience in APIs for data sharing and Data Driven Architecture.
- BigQuery (data modelling, optimization, security); Advanced SQL proficiency with complex data transformation, windowing functions, and analytical querying.
- Ability to design and develop modular, maintainable SQL models using dbt best practices.
- Experience in developing Looker dashboards with drill down capabilities and security profiling.
- Experience in Optimizing Looker performance: materialized views, query tuning, aggregate tables, etc.
- Proven track records in leading Proof-of-concepts (POCs) and best practice implementations for modern data architecture, including data lakes and cloud-native data warehouses.
- Experience in estimating development efforts and delivery planning.
- Exposure to Cloud Infra deployments, monitoring and optimizing cloud resources for performance, cost, and scalability using tools like Stackdriver, Prometheus, or Grafana
- Hands on passionate technologist who is delivering code to production.
- A broad capability of modern programming languages and the ability to choose the ‘right tool for the job’.
- Expertise in managing large data volumes, ETL and Reporting aspects.
- Exposure of the Regulatory Reporting functional domain.
- Experience of managing global teams, located in diverse geographic locations, across timezones.
- Influences way beyond their own immediate department.
