  • Volcker Collection & Reporting (VC)
  • The Operational Hub MMO Teams form part of the Middle Office function in Global Banking and Markets, working with Regional MMO functions to ensure functional consistency and delivery across all work streams. We provide support to a number of Traded and/or Market Risk Functions/Teams across the HSBC Group.
  • Operational Hub Locations: Bangalore
  • Regional Locations: London, Hong Kong, New York
  • Activities undertaken include, but not limited to:
  • Working with the Regulatory Middle Office function globally to identify, escalate and potentially remediate issues, exceptions and alerts
  • Assist in the generation of periodic and ad-hoc Regulatory Reporting management information metrics for governance forums
  • Delivering Global Control Framework activities for HSBC’s Global OTCD Trade Reporting Obligations
  • Interacting with global colleagues as part of daily controls
  • Producing regional Trade Reporting Governance packs for presentation to front-to-back stakeholders
  • Understand HSBC’s Global Regulatory Obligations, System Infrastructure & Reporting Mechanisms as well as OTC Derivative Products and the OTCD Market, and utilize this knowledge to identify reporting or operational inefficiencies and drive improvement
  • Maintain comprehensive tracking of open reporting issues and ageing
  • Use acquired knowledge to identify, investigate and mitigate new issues
  • Process all stakeholder (internal and external) requests/queries in timely and accurate manner
  • Ensure timely and accurate production of Off-Market Rate Checking and Best Ex Monitoring which is a key control in mitigating operational risks of inappropriate trader activity and reputational risk.
  • Oversight and execution of the end-to-end Internal Governance BL VRM packs and the Quarterly Submissions
  • Responsible for understanding various requirements of Volcker 2.0 Quarterly Submissions to Regulators and adhering to those requirements
  • Ensure that Volcker Internal Governance Reports and Volcker Submissions are completed within the SLA and any issues observed are flagged to respective owners
  • We are currently seeking for an ambitious individual to join the TCC Team in the role of Analyst / Assistant Manager (GCB7) (BNG )

The Opportunity:

TCC Team caters globally (HBAP, HBUS, HBEU, HBUK, HBCE, EMEA, MENAT) as a key control for mitigating risks associated with Market manipulation, Market Abuse, Financial Crime, Internal Fraud Risk, Fraud against the bank (non-customer), Regulatory Compliance Risk, Inappropriate trading against the bank & Market Conduct, Failure to deal, manage and execute trades appropriately. We cater to Regulatory Requirements and put necessary controls to adhere to it across asset classes and business Lines.

What you’ll do:

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Directly manage the trade reporting processes relating to changes in new and existing reporting requirements -covering BOE, Benchmark controls, SEC, NFC, HKMA, FRB, CFTC, MAS, ASIC, CSA, EMIR & SFTR

Oversight and execution of the end-to-end Governance packs:

  • Handling of queries from/ Reaching out to various Stakeholders for relevant information concerning Internal governance and provide timely and relevant response.
  • Liaise with the different stakeholders on Regulatory submission feedback
  • Investigate any transactions which appear not to have been executed at either prevailing market rates OR done beyond the acceptable thresholds of market price range and the inception profit.
  • Challenging traders on Best Ex / conduct exception reasons
  • Documenting and assessing for reasonableness of explanation from front office. Highlight exceptions to the head of the Trading Desk with reasons for formal review.
  • Escalating unreasonable rationale or pattern of suspicious activity to management.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Tests (UATs), as required, on any system enhancements or roll-outs
  • Ensure that processes adhere to appropriate quality standards, with reference to internal and external compliance rules, and are comprehensively documented.
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards and address audit points and/or any issues raised by regulators in a timely manner. Foster a compliance culture within the team, managing compliance risk and ensuring that the necessary training is completed. Optimizes relations with regulators.
  • Engage with internal and external auditors to satisfy questions and requests as part of formal and informal reviews.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • A degree / qualification in finance, accountancy, business management or previous experience in risk management or quantitative courses. Qualified Chartered Accountant/CPA /CFA/MBA from Tier I/II institute with at least 1-2 years of experience in Product Control, Middle Office, Front Office Operations environment and organization of similar scale with US GAAP, IFRS, IAS reporting framework
  • Knowledge of financial products like Equities, Foreign Exchange, fixed income, Derivatives - Options, Interest rate swaps, Equity Derivatives, Credit Derivatives etc., risk management principles, market risk measures (i.e. PVBP, VaR) and systems.
  • Proven ability to manage migrations of processes and exposure to diverse/multi-culture work environments with strong organization, time management and prioritization skills
  • Understanding of Trade Life Cycle
  • High level of competency in the production of information, and the ability to process, analyze and interpret market risk reports
  • High proficiency in Excel (VBA skill would be an advantage), SQL, Word and PowerPoint. Average proficiency in MS Access.
  • Ability to work cross culturally with a strong collaborative and inclusive mindset, and committed to equal employment opportunities
