About the Team

The TRP&A team sits within Risk & Compliance.

TRP&A Team composition:

  • Stress Testing
  • Aggregation
  • Market Data Management (MDM)
  • Model Monitoring and calibration (MMC)
  • Traded risk Analysis
  • These teams form part of the TTR&A setup, that ensure functional consistency and delivery across all work streams and support a number of Traded and/or Market Risk Functions/Teams across the HSBC Group.
  • Locations: Bangalore
  • Regional Locations: Hong Kong, London, Paris, New York

Activities undertaken include, but not limited to:

  • Management and monitoring of counterparty and market risk limits in trading and aggregation systems
  • Analysis and reporting of market risk calculations to traders, risk managers, senior management and regulators
  • Management of market data and generation of risk model parameters such as VaR, PFE, EEPE
  • Analysis and rating of country risk where HSBC has any exposure
  • Review, validation and improvement of risk calculation and management models
  • Collation of Risk related MI and preparation of Stress Testing and Back testing governance committee packs
  • We are currently seeking for an ambitious individual to join the Traded Risk Process & Analysis CoE (TRP&A) Team as (GCB7) in the role of Analyst - Traded Risk Anaylsis.

The Opportunity:

  • The purpose of the role is to provide oversight as a Analyst for the MRDS with details defined below.

What you’ll do:

GCB LEVEL       

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

ALL     

  • Ensures the integrity of Common Data from Primary Trading Systems, Traded Risk Systems and Vault consumed by multiple downstream consumers
  • Responsible for monitoring and executing controls and L1 Exceptions as detailed below:
  • Data quality checks and controls on consumers' original sources/ inputs - PTS, Traded Risk Systems, Vault Data
  • Reference Data Quality Controls - GRDS, HMS, Client, Common Mapping
  • Reconciliations between Data Sources or/with Consumer Inputs
  • Static Maintenance in Consumers system not using Golden Source (Counterparty Information in LEM, …) 
  • L1 Exception Management:
  • MR Data Quality Control : Feed Completeness/Accuracy/Exceptions Monitoring/GRDS Checks/PI Monitoring
  • MR Reconciliations
  • MR Adjustments
  • Liaises with feed providers to ensure the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of inputs for reporting. This includes prompt escalation of delays and incomplete data for proper workaround and/or resolution.
  • Responsible for monitoring and executing controls as detailed below:
  • Static Maintenance in systems specific to Consumers (Market Risk Limits, …)
  • Controls when oversight is owned outside DaRR (ex. EOD Limit Monitoring)
  • L2 Exception Management:
  • MR KPI/KRI for Traded Risk Business Control Committee (BCC)
  • MR Reporting (Limit Monitoring, Excess)
  • Ensures complete, accurate, quality and timely reports sent to stakeholders, with proper adherence to      Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Liaises with Regional MRAs and MRMs for any functional requirements
  • Where applicable, coordinates with MRAs and MRMs for any regulatory requirements

OPERATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS & CONTROL:

ALL     

  • Participate in User Acceptance Tests (UATs), as required, on any system enhancements or roll-outs
  • Ensure that processes adhere to appropriate quality standards, with reference to internal and external compliance rules, and are comprehensively documented.
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards and address audit points and/or any issues raised by regulators in a timely manner. Foster a compliance culture within the team, managing compliance risk and ensuring that the necessary training is completed. Optimizes relations with regulators.
  • Engage with internal and external auditors to satisfy questions and requests as part of formal and informal reviews.

LEADERSHIP & TEAMWORK:

GCB 7 ANALYST         

  • Promote greater understanding of MMO'S role in the GBM umbrella among staff.
  • Work with staff to constantly upgrade knowledge and skill set and help them functionally
  • Drive the implementation of processes and policies to deliver service excellence by clearly communicating the rationale across sites and ensuring that the entire team functions as one coordinated unit.
  • Helps provide regular updates between the two sites on any functional changes in the process.
  • Partners with the Global Lead in ensuring that on-going training is built into regular BAU and that the teams are fully cross-trained on MRDC Pod-specific responsibilities.

STAKEHOLDERS:

ALL     

  • Collaborate and partner with relevant stakeholders to ensure end to end process is connected and streamlined.
  • Proactively drive growth in the GSC team’s responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain communication link with relevant stakeholders with respect to all process and people-related activities and issues
  • Address any adhoc queries on a timely manner

GCB 7 ANALYST         

  • In addition to the above, ensures that production-related items are addressed through collaboration with SMEs, and where necessary, further assists on any requirements.
  • Ensures that any stakeholder requirements are prioritised and/or addressed accordingly, and where necessary, pro-actively escalate any issues with the Global Lead and Functional Lead.

Qualifications/ Competencies

Criteria

  • A degree / qualification in Finance, Accountancy, Business Management or previous experience in Risk Management (Market Risk) or quantitative courses
  • Strong foundation in risk management principles, understanding of market risk measures (i.e. PVBP, VaR) and systems
  • High level of competency in the production of information, and the ability to process, analyze and interpret market risk reports
  • High proficiency in Excel (VBA skill would be an advantage), Word and Powerpoint. Average proficiency in MS Access.
  • Ability to use and code in Python
  • Ability to work cross culturally with a strong collaborative and inclusive mindset, and committed to equal employment opportunities
  • Ability to drive performance under pressure and tight timelines
  • Ability to respond on a timely manner to ad hoc risk enquiries, and ensures data quality by identifying potential issues and proactively escalating it
  • Ability to learn within a dedicated span of training time and transfer knowledge appropriately

  • Previous experience managing a team or supervising a working group
  • Previous experience on project management and/or execution
  • Self-motivated, excellent communication skills, adaptability

  • Performance and Behavior ratings should be Satisfactory for the last 2 years
  • No corrective actions in the last 3 months
  • Staff/team member can be released by current manager within 45-60 days
  • Any exception to the above criteria will be subject for evaluation and approval of the Head of MMO DaRR Operational Hub.
  • Team members may advise and discuss with their line managers prior to expressing their interest.
