We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Business Director, HIF COO Office.
- Plays a key leadership role within the HIF COO team to facilitate growth of the Infrastructure Finance (IF) business, which is focused on supporting clients on their Net Zero and digital transformation journeys, with an ambition to double the business over the next 5 years.

The role is multi-functional crossing all COO disciplines and applying expert industry/product knowledge, front to back. It is a key partner to the Regional Head of Infrastructure Finance, Asia & MENAT, to deliver the business and operational strategy, as well as facilitating the business front to back within risk appetite.

Key focus of the role will include ensuring IF delivers its growth plan, securing a high performing full-strength team per the business plan, delivering on the transformation plan and being underpinned by effective F2B operational processes

The role is based in Hong Kong and reports to the HIF COO

Drive the execution and implementation of the IF strategy, working with key partners, reviewing and refining as required, assessing progress and market dynamics

Identify, recommend and articulate the needs required to achieve the business strategy

Work with the HIF COO and the IF business to implement the operational strategy and standards for IF, ensuring we go to market as one coordinated proposition

Oversee day-to-day operations and regularly review the operational efficiency and effectiveness, establishing structures, policies, processes, ways of working and delivery platforms that enable high quality delivery of services to clients

Enhance provision and access to MI for IF stakeholders including pipeline, market data, league tables etc. to support and improve decision making

Oversee P&L, ensuring IF meets its targets. Be a senior interface and stakeholder for IF, working closely with Functional partners

Establish / deepen relationships with internal and external partners incl industry groups and regulatory bodies to gain insight and share best practices

Stay updated with client demand and work with stakeholders to develop solutions that meet client requirements

Oversee talent initiatives across the IF unit, in conjunction with the Leadership Team and Functions, including annual performance management and people year-end processes

Represent IF at relevant internal and external workshops and forums

Prepare townhalls, QBRs, board presentations, ExCo papers, leadership team meetings, marketing and comms

Review and improve existing process and procedures through transformation and value stream initiatives, to ensure an efficient and simplified / automated operating framework. Leverage technology (incl. AI) to enhance services for IF

In conjunction with Functional partners, ensure robust processes are in place to deliver on regulatory and management reporting requirements and ensure sound management of risk types

Identify, assess and manage any existing and emerging risks in line with risk appetite and in conjunction with Business Risk

Requirements
- Thorough understanding of HSBC Group structures, values, behaviours, processes, and objectives.
- Experience working CIB for a min. of 5 years
- Outstanding relationship management, interpersonal, communication skills; the ability to negotiate and influence across networks of stakeholders.
- Practical experience in managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in simple language both verbally and in writing.
- Proven ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous environment, whilst setting and managing realistic expectations and staying true to the values and strategy of the Group.
- Outstanding prioritisation and control skills, with ability to critically review and acknowledge when and how to reprioritise, mitigate, or escalate.
- Extensive organisational and planning skills to cope with multiple large-scale responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with peers, senior stakeholders and direct/indirect reports
- Evidence of effective execution of goals and delivery of clear results.
- Strong financial and accounting acumen; and experience working across cultures.
- Exceptional powerpoint and excel skills
