FinOps operates as one connected team of c3k FTEs (c35% of Global Finance) organized around key global processes; FinOps operates in multiple locations in India, Poland, priority and network markets. FinOps is currently undergoing a significant transformation to realign existing ‘global process owners’ towards the three future pillars, namely Accounting Operations, Data Operations and regionally led Reporting Operations.
  • Management Reporting is a sub-function of FinOps and one of the aforementioned ‘global process owners’, specializing in the delivery of reports and insights for the Global Businesses – these cover revenue and sales performance, cost analysis, balance sheet management and client profitability. Looks to partner with in-country Business teams and align to similar strategic objectives to ensure effective finance partnering to the Business

The Opportunity:

  • GCB 5 role is for I&A/Management Reporting team for Commercial Business Partner/MI Insights and Analysis profile
  • The role is part of Management Reporting team.  The purpose of the team is to work closely with the Senior Finance Leads and Incountry Business Partners, providing them with insightful financial information and analysis to support strategic decision making and drive better business performance across the region. The role holder will have a broad role with a strong focus on internal and external reporting as follows: 
  • A key role is understanding the overall performance of our bank in Europe across a range of performance metrics. This will require the role holder to prepare insightful reports and analysis on range of Key Performance Indicators and Governance papers for Board, Exco and Audit Committee
  • Role holder will be required to collaborate with both Incountry and FinOps teams to enhance quality of reporting with focus on controls, governance and robust change management. 
  • Working on internal reporting including all aspects of Management Reporting and align financials with key strategic initiatives underway. The emphasis is on highlighting key issues in a succinct and easily understandable format. 
  • Working on external reporting including the preparation of business performance commentary for inclusion in the interim and annual report facilitating investigations and analysis. The role holder will also prepare analysis of business performance for submission to the Group Finance team to support the Group’s quarterly results announcements.
  • Role holder would work closely in managing monthly end to end reporting cycle encompassing both Actuals and Forecast, series of adhoc requests, analytical production support including FRP/Target/Budget cycle process
  • The role holder will be supported by team members based in Incountry and India.
  • This role will suit an individual who enjoys teamwork and is keen to develop their business knowledge.
  • The jobholder will be required to understand Regional and Business strategy aligning financials to drive insightful reporting and facilitate timely decision-making process
  • The jobholder will need to constantly engage with a broad range of Business and Finance stakeholders for both BAU outcomes and building commercial acumen, as well as various stakeholders in FinOps to ensure a joined up approach with FinOps.
  • The jobholder is expected to be a self-starter and should be able to ask the right questions and use judgement to adapt appropriately to the dynamic environment.

Management of Risk

  • The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks and likelihood of operational risk occurring. This will be achieved by reviewing risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing global economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new processes. Effective and timely remedial action should be evidenced.

Observation of Internal Controls

  • The jobholder will adopt the Group Compliance Policy by escalating any identified compliance risk in liaison with, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Technical Skill Requirements

  • Recognized professional accounting qualification predominantly in Finance, experience in Finance Operations is helpful but not essential. 
  • Understanding of data architecture, finance and accounting systems plus reporting requirements (IFRS).
  • Commercial business knowledge which includes a solid understanding of the strategic objectives of the Global Businesses and Group, Legal Entities framework with ability to communicate these confidently to all stakeholder groups.
  • Significant knowledge of Finance processes including planning, budgeting, forecasting, P&L analysis, financial modelling and management reporting.
  • Experience of designing, implementing and maintaining an effective control framework to ensure high quality repeatable delivery.
  • Skilled in usage and adoption of digital technology such as automation and visualization tools

Operational Requirements

  • Proven track record of adapting and improving operational processes around changing stakeholder requirements.
  • Process operations skillset including process governance, driving re-engineering, curiosity to identify process improvements and leveraging technology to drive automation and insight improvements.

Personal Skill Requirements

  • Excellent Reporting skills, clear and effective communications, strategic thinking to understand Business drivers, ability to drive BAU and change at pace, strong execution and problem solving skills alongside showing judgement to act in times where ambiguity or imperfect information exists.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to frequent and multiple changes.
  • Ability to work under pressure, report and react to tight deadlines and deal effectively with issues as they arise.
  • Effective team player - collaborative and good communicator who can play a lead role supporting wider BFO peers/teams and influence positive change on the FinOps agenda.

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Manage complexity across process, series of moving parts and capture across Insightful MI Reporting and Analysis
  • Communicating with a broad range of stakeholders across functions in diverse locations and establishing working relationships across Business Finance, Financial Reporting, Accounting and SCM teams
  • Keeping calm under pressure and operating under uncertainty within faced paced environment.
  • Know-how/Exposure to Digital Tools like Python/VBA/Qlik would be desirable but not essential. Trainings to be provided
  • Good understanding of Reporting systems like TM1, Saracen, HMI, Clearview etc would be beneficial
