The opportunity: Company Secretary, Bermuda

What you will do: 

The Company Secretary leads and manages the provision of Company Secretarial support, services and advice to all HSBC companies, subsidiaries, and entities within Bermuda in line with an appropriate and consistent corporate governance framework. The Company Secretary Bermuda is responsible for delivering the Corporate Governance & Secretariat function activities within Bermuda.  

This role aims to drive excellence in Governance by developing our people, processes and systems, we drive the highest standards of corporate governance globally to support the delivery of Group strategy and to satisfy the expectations of our stakeholders.

In this role you will:

• Direct and manage Board and Committee meetings 
• Lead the delivery of the corporate governance arrangements for HSBC companies, subsidiaries and other entity boards in Bermuda
• Provide advice, guidance and support to the directors and senior management on corporate governance matters
• Lead and manage a wide range of relationships, at the highest levels, with key internal and external stakeholders
• Lead and manage the staff in the Governance function in Bermuda
• Direct and manage the fulfilment of all statutory obligations with respect to corporate governance for HSBC companies, subsidiaries, and entities in Bermuda


You should apply if you have: 

• Relevant experience in a legal/corporate governance role 
• Sound knowledge of corporate governance principles, including driving high quality governance standards
• Excellent communication and  organisational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and plan ahead
• Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion, work independently, under pressure and handle multiple tasks 
• Ability to develop strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders (both internal and external) across seniorities and geographies
• Excellent inter-personal skills including the maintenance and development of relationships within a team
