We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Design Lead.

We have an opening for a delivery, engineering focussed Design Lead, to coordinate solution design and delivery across multiple programmes. This opportunity offers an exciting, challenging and visible opportunity to develop the candidate to further their career, working with agility and striving to achieve service excellence through all aspects of delivery.                                         

The chosen candidate will support the development of end-to-end solutions to deliver to business outcomes, working closely with the design, propositions business and engineering teams. They will be responsible for delivering in line with global patterns and strategies where appropriate and to align business requirements to technology solutions. They will provide consistent solution designs which will deliver expected Business Outcomes, satisfy all relevant regulatory requirements and mitigate identified operational risks. Their primary stakeholders are Product Owners/Business, Technical Leads, Platform and Value Stream leads.

In this role you will:

• Use your engineering background defining the detailed end to end solution design for products and features in a way that supports the execution of the iWPB technology strategy and roadmap, articulating and addressing associated risks, issues and technical debt
• Translate the requirements created by business analysts into the design for that solution, ensuring the products and services meet the customer needs and expected Business Outcomes
• Ensure that the integrity of the design is maintained throughout the development lifecycle liaising with the engineering team to ensure standards are incorporated
• Collaborate with the CIOs to define and delivery technical strategy and roadmap; looking for opportunities to improve the current landscape/enterprise
• Identify dependencies across multiple Platforms and Value & Sub-Value Streams; awareness of projects/strategies outside of the Value Stream
• Develop and growing a skillset to design for cloud and for resilient, robust, secure, adaptable and flexible solution
• Act as interface to other engineering groups both regional and at Group level
• HSBC is a complex organisation with many external and internal stakeholders, communication is critical and must be adapted to the stakeholder group.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

• Strong delivery experience across multiple technology used within HSBC UK including on premises mainframe and Cloud (specially AWS)• Experience of designing, delivering and communication infrastructure and physical designs
• Demonstratable coding experience – Java and Python. Experience with mainframe coding language Cobul.
• Ability to manage multiple programmes of work, managing multiple priorities
• Strong stakeholder management; ability to communicate complex technology and solutions across a full stakeholder range

This role is based in Sheffield or Leeds.
