The Director, Strategic Execution & Risk Oversight plays a critical role in driving cross-functional strategic projects and ensuring regulatory alignment across the organization. This role serves as a key advisor to executive leadership, integrating business strategy with emerging regulatory requirements, risk management priorities, and long-term operational planning.
As our Director, Strategic Execution & Risk Oversight you will:
- Partner with senior leadership to develop and oversee the organization's strategy and ensure its alignment with overall business goals and regulatory environment
- Identify and monitor emerging strategic risks; ensure they are reflected in planning, governance forums, and stakeholder communications
- Partner with Finance, Risk, and Public Affairs to maintain a cohesive narrative on U.S. priorities, performance, and risk
- Develop high-quality briefing materials and papers for senior forums, including the U.S. Board and Operating Committee
- Translate strategic themes into clear, data-backed insights tailored to senior internal and external stakeholders
- Lead the U.S. engagement with Group Strategy and Management (GSM), ensuring U.S. business inputs are well-positioned and aligned with global priorities
- Support regulatory governance processes and prepare for supervisory interactions requiring strategic alignment and clarity
- Work with U.S. Functions (Risk, Compliance, Audit, Finance) to ensure that strategic priorities are translated into clear controls, evidence, and implementation plans
- Monitor progress and surface any gaps that may impact regulatory readiness or internal governance expectations.
Build strong working relationships with senior leaders across the U.S. Operating Committee and global strategy teams.
For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $230,100.00 and $300,000.00
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field preferred
- Proven and progressive business, risk, operational, and/or strategy management experience
- Prior business strategy, risk, and operations experience preferred
- Experience in the application of strategic and risk frameworks, financial analysis, research, and program management disciplines to solve challenging business questions
- Proven communication skills (verbal, written and presentations), including ability to translate complex ideas into understandable insights and provide commercially-sound business justification to support executive decision-making
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with ability to effectively engage with senior executives, management teams, staff, and external stakeholders; demonstrated ability to lead through influence
- Effective problem-solving skills, able to process high volumes of complex information, synthesise key themes and issues, and recommend actionable responses to opportunities and threats
- Flexibility and adaptability - priorities and tasks can be dynamic, complex, time sensitive and require the simultaneous handling of a broad range of issues
- Deep knowledge of the U.S. financial sector, regulatory expectations (especially OCC Heightened Standards), and the broader macro/policy landscape
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing materials for senior executives, Boards, or regulators
