The Opportunity:
The F2B (Front-to-Back) Operations Head of Tech is a strategic leadership role, accountable for driving technological innovation, end-to-end process optimization, and digital transformation across the front-to-back operational value chain of the business. This role will take the lead in streamlining cross-departmental workflows, modernizing legacy systems, and leveraging advanced technologies such as AI to deliver operational excellence, enhance process efficiency, and ensure service quality—all aligned with the bank’s strategic objectives, Hong Kong’s financial market regulations, and customer-centric service standards.

What you’ll do:
1. Front-to-Back Process Optimization & Efficiency
- Collaborate closely with frontline teams and backend operational teams to map, analyze, and reengineer end-to-end front-to-back processes.
- Define and deliver annual efficiency improvement targets in line with the bank’s regional performance goals, focusing on reducing customer transaction processing time, eliminating workflow bottlenecks, and enhancing overall operational throughput while ensuring compliance with Hong Kong’s financial regulatory requirements.

2. Digital Transformation & Tech Innovation
- Lead the design and execution of digital transformation initiatives for the bank’s front-to-back operations, with a core focus on AI-driven innovation (e.g., intelligent process automation, predictive workflow optimization) and platform engineering to build integrated, scalable technical solutions.
- Drive the development, testing, and launch of in-house orchestration platforms with embedded AI capabilities, enabling real-time visibility into front-to-back workflows, data-driven decision-making, and seamless integration between customer-facing front-end systems and backend operational systems.

3. Legacy System Management & Infrastructure Modernization
- Oversee the phased decommissioning of legacy applications that support front-to-back operations, developing and executing a structured retirement plan to minimize business disruption, ensure data integrity, and align with the bank’s IT architecture standards.
- Lead the modernization of legacy infrastructure for front-to-back workflows, enabling scalable automation, reducing technical debt, and enhancing the security, reliability, and performance of operational technology systems—while complying with Hong Kong’s financial industry data security and privacy regulations (e.g., PDPO).

4. Stakeholder Alignment & Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Act as the key liaison between the technology team, frontline business units, and backend support departments (e.g., Risk Management, Compliance, Data Governance), ensuring technical roadmaps, project priorities, and solution designs are aligned with business needs and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external tech partners (where applicable) to advance the implementation of front-to-back tech initiatives, resolve cross-departmental conflicts, and communicate project progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership.

5. Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, manage, and mentor a cross-functional F2B operations tech team, including defining team structure, setting individual performance objectives, conducting regular performance reviews, and providing professional development opportunities to enhance the team’s expertise in AI, platform engineering, and banking operational processes.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and regulatory compliance within the team, encouraging the adoption of best practices in tech development and front-to-back operational optimization.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; a master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MSc in IT) is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in technology leadership roles within the financial services industry, with at least 3 years of experience focusing on front-to-back (F2B) operational technology in Hong Kong’s banking sector.

- Prior experience working in Hong Kong-based banks (especially with retail, commercial, or corporate banking business lines) and in-depth understanding of Hong Kong’s financial regulatory framework (e.g., HKMA guidelines) is a strong plus.
• Skills:
- Deep expertise in AI/ML technologies, platform engineering, and infrastructure modernization, with practical experience in applying these technologies to optimize banking front-to-back workflows.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to deliver complex, cross-departmental tech initiatives on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of effectively collaborating with business, risk, compliance teams, and senior leadership to align tech strategies with business goals.
