  • The MSS NFR is an extension of the MSS COO Office, and the Office will partner with business management in the embedding, remediation and improvement of the control environment in respect of key risks to the MSS businesses, including the testing and assurance requirements of the Group Operational Risk Management Framework. The office will deliver on control related priorities in a well-organized, effective, and collaborative manner. 

The Opportunity:

  • The role holder will be involved in the Toxic Combinations BAU team which is part of the Global NFR, ensuring the adequacy and efficacy of the control environment.
  • The role holder will be supporting the Controls office in embedding and operating a process governing an advanced segregation of duties (SoD) recertification that identifies potential front to back access right conflicts for line managers to recertify.

What you’ll do:

  • Sourcing of all data required for the creation of the Toxic combination reports, while ensuring appropriate Quality Assurance takes place prior to consumption.
  • Review SoD framework, validate sensitive business transactions (SBT) definitions.
  • Confirm which sites and business processes (i.e. Asset classes) should be in scope.
  • Develop (new) and refresh existing system landscape diagrams to identify any new systems.
  • Validate systems in scope and any new additions.
  • Remediate any inherently toxic profiles.
  • Support compilation of all reports and ensure timely delivery to regional/country representatives and other stakeholders.
  • Maintenance of the applicable tools and development of new data feeds or enhancements where necessary to improve scalability and robustness.
  • Monitor, track, maintain, and report on status of toxic combination reviews once report delivery is achieved.
  • Ensure all queries from stakeholders are dealt with in a complete and timely fashion.
  • Analyse and report on any gaps or inadequacies in the applicable tools and overarching control processes.

Customer / Stakeholders:

  • Markets COO Community including Regional COOs, Asset Class COOs, and Business Managers
  • Data Custodians and Technology representatives within Application Support teams, HR and Product Control
  • Controls Office Community including Regional and Asset Class Control Officers as well as associated Change and Assurance teams
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven organizational, planning, interpersonal, managerial, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and team building skills.
  • Appreciation of financial industry and key regulation on the financial markets practices
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in related field such as business, finance, law or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage their expectations
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner at all levels in the organization incl Markets senior management community – Global Product Heads, Country Balance Sheet Heads and the MSS Chief Control Officer and associated resources.
  • Ability to turn around deliverables with short lead time and be able to work with different cultural groups to build consensus.

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced VBA and MS Access Database skills.
  • Proficient in analytical tools like Alteryx and Tableau.
  • Good understanding of Controls and the operational aspects underpinning Control processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage their expectations
  • Motivated and dynamic, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to urgent requests
  • Ability to work closely with team members and collaborate with colleagues globally
  • Confident and comfortable with reporting tools and databases, able to quickly to learn new systems
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with a structured, organised approach to work
