The Financial Reporting Risk Oversight team is responsible for overseeing the framework, policy, standards and processes that are operated by the first line of defence (1LOD) and which support the ongoing assessment of risks and controls relevant to Financial Reporting Risk. The role holder will work closely with the HBEU Assurance lead to support and provide oversight, guidance and assurance over risks and controls within Finance in order to ensure that there is a suitable framework to maintain a robust control environment.
What you’ll do
• Evaluate design and operational effectiveness of controls executed within Finance function, ensuring compliance with Group Operational Risk Framework.• Document and escalate identified control deficiencies ensuring required resolution and deadline for implementation are agreed.• Deliver agreed test plan within busy environment and give an opportunity for wide exposure to all Finance processes and to senior management within and outside of Finance.• Identification of Risks and related appropriate controls impacting Financial Reporting Risk.• Work closely with the Sox team to complete annual walkthrough process reviews and testing of SOX in scope processes (as per FIM guidelines), to assess the design and operating effectiveness of SOX controls.• Thematic reviews: scoping and planning, execution and reporting.• Demand-led Assurance reviews (and other similar exceptional reviews).• Issues and actions validation and oversight, escalation of issues to senior Finance leadership. Lead the identification and assessment of key global thematic control issues.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
• Experience of working in a controls function, internal or external audit would be an asset.• Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics, or eqivalent quailification.• Strong analytical skills and proactive approach to problem solving.• Excellent communication and presentation skills.• Extensive experience in, and thorough understanding of, managing, overseeing and applying controls across a Finance function, including those underpinning SOX and Operational Risk frameworks.• A good understanding of banking products, especially markets products, and the associated risks and controls.• Thorough understanding of areas within Finance as well as other areas of risk e.g. risk,• Excellent interpersonal skills, strong stakeholder management and business writing skills.
