Fraud & Credit Services (FCS) – Credit Card Processing undertakes the underwriting segment for Credit Card acquisition, Credit Card Limit Management, Loans and Overdrafts for HSBC Sri Lanka. 

The Opportunity: (Brief Overview of the Role)

  • The Credit Underwriting Specialist role provides an opportunity to engage in multiple facets of the business. 
  • It’s a role that requires engaging with processing staff and business on query resolution, management of training requirements, continuous quality improvement, periodical guideline and operating procedure reviews to technical issue management and resolution while also maintaining a certain level of processing contribution.

What you’ll do: (List out Key Responsibilities)

  • Training of E2E processing in the respective products for new staff and cross training of existing staff
  • Subject Matter Expert and point of contact for processing related queries from the processing team as well as frontline channels
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on all respective activities with their respective processes
  • Conducting quarterly standard operating procedures and local lending guide reviews
  • Reviewing procedure updates, liaising with business for clarifications, communicating updates to the respective teams and documenting same.
  • Review common error trends of feedback received via business, review returns and audit checks and drive continuous quality improvement within teams.
  • Conduct quarterly process walkthroughs and troubleshooting exchanges to resolve operational/processing queries within respective processes.
  • Drive regular process reviews to enhance operational effectiveness
  • Responsible for coordinating Offshore UAT testing for critical system functions in respective processes
  • Contingency support to manage Query Support and Email Verification generic mailboxes in the absence of the Assistant Manager of the respective process
  • Liaise with GHHD and other technical support teams in resolving technical issues and challenges
  • Will continue to support with processing contribution of 50% across respective processes
  • Any other related task

What you will need to succeed in the role: (Minimum Qualification and Skills Required)

  • Relevant work experience in CBH Underwriting Services environment with 3 years of experience minimum.
  • Knowledge in the underwriting process for CBH Credit Cards, Loans and Overdrafts is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of HUB, AO, GWIS & other CBH core banking systems.
  • Proven leadership skills, with ability to build rapport with and relate to and effectively develop a wide range of people.
  • Ability to learn quickly, transfer knowledge appropriately, understand and interpret numeric data.
  • Evidence of good analytical, statistical and data mining skills to study trends, and the ability to make projections and to interpret numeric information.
  • Ability to speak and understand English fluently, write business letters and reports, and have good
  • conversational / telephone skills.
  • Production management skills and implemented process improvement ideas.
  • The ability to create simple MI databases in excel or any other format and maintain performance related information.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision. 
  • Good people management skills.
  • Flexibility to work any shift.
