Your career opportunity
In Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) Client Services we are building inhouse solutions to support the onboarding and KYC activities of our customers. Amongst other things, we are building client facing applications for users to manage their activities with HSBC and orchestration capabilities to reduce the time it takes for clients and staff to complete these activities. In this role, you will be driving engineering excellence across a global team to transform both the culture and the technology across our KYC applications. This role expects you to be hands-on engineering, leading our software delivery teams by example to build a first-in-class solution that’s iteratively delivered into the hands of our users. It also expects you to be influencing the wider group of engineers, architects and the business to ensure we are building the right products in the right ways.
What you’ll do
- Work independently and as part of a team to design, develop, test and implement web-based applications.
- Build on and suggest best practices.
- Mentor other members in the department where appropriate, providing guidance and knowledge transfer.
- Deliver well structured, maintainable and fully tested systems to time and budget.
- Follow HSBC Risk-Based Project Management (RBPM) and GB&GCF IT development methodologies, corporate information security and corporate website look & feel guidance to ensure successful project delivery with strict adherence to coding practices and the production of all necessary documentation.
- Initiation and implementation of productivity and quality initiatives.
- Manage and co-ordinate software releases through to Production.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- A proven track record delivering web applications.
- Experience of working on front end layers / tiers of the project with rich UI.
- Excellent knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and css-processors like SASS, Less etc.
- Excellent knowledge of React.JS, JavaScript, Typescript etc.
- Experience in front end testing frameworks such as Jest and Testing Library React.
- Experience in creating pixel perfect UI as per provided specifications.
- Experience of designing responsive GUI for Desktop and Mobile based applications.
- Good knowledge of accessibility and cross browser standards. Good knowledge of data marshalling/de-marshalling using JSON and XML
