The role of IT Cost & Contracts Manager is a key in managing Cost Management processes across multiple IT business areas ensuring consistent and adequate governance and controls resulting in effective sanctioning of spend. This will include detailed involvement on cost submissions working with Business Managers, Procurement and COOs to ensure that HSBC is obtaining the best commercial deal and evidencing the cost reduction work undertaken.
The primary purpose of the Technology Cost and Contract team is to govern all third-party IT spend for HSBC Technology (c$3bn) including managing and continuously improving the cost management processes. This role will include working with the GBGF IT CIOs, COOs and supporting teams to optimise IT’s utilisation of third-party hardware, software, resources, and associated IT services (including non-permanent workforce) to maximise value and cost savings to HSBC
In this role, you will have specific responsibility for managing the contract lifecycle from an IT perspective for a number of specific contracts, including evaluating renewals of contracts ahead of time, challenging demand / requirements and working collaboratively with technical teams and procurement to obtain an optimal commercial deal. Maintaining the IT contracts calendar for the relevant IT teams including correct articulation of the financial P&L profiles, owning the renewal trigger points and driving subsequent actions will be essential. Furthermore, support will be provided to each area to assist working towards a complete zero-based budgeting approach.
You need to be commercially aware with expertise in cost or commercial management or sourcing /category management and will be responsible for creating and maintaining a robust governance model in evaluating, reviewing all IT expenditure and proactively driving cost reduction across Technology.
What you’ll do
- Cost Management: Oversee rigorous review and challenge of Third Party cost submissions, collaborating with Business Managers, Procurement, Architecture, Engineering and COOs to secure optimal commercial deals and demonstrate cost reduction efforts. Gathers all relevant information from a wide range of sources to drive and enable an informed decision-making process relating to Tech hardware, software and other IT related services.
- Contract Lifecycle Management: Support the contract lifecycle from an IT perspective, including evaluating renewals, challenging demand/requirements and collaborating with technical teams and Category to secure optimal commercial deals.
- Governance and Controls: Create and maintain a robust governance model for evaluating and reviewing IT expenditure, proactively driving cost reduction across Technology whilst ensuring alignment to Technology, Finance, Procurement and Architecture requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build effective stakeholder relationships to enhance engagement, influence decisions and ensure strong stakeholder advocacy. Work with key stakeholders including senior management to elevate commercial awareness and optimise commercial decision making.
- Risk Management: Promote a risk-aware culture, embedding efficient risk and compliance processes. Manage operational risk and adhere to the Group’s standards of ethical behaviour.
- Business Case Development: Analyse commercial, contractual and commercial information to enable you to define and articulate to stakeholders the targeted benefits for a change intervention, demonstrating effective financial skills to develop a detailed business case, including investments, detailed benefits (financial, non-financial and strategic), costs whilst linking them to the overall finances of the business.
- Managing and Leading: Supports change through effective communication, preparation and implementation with peers and senior management across HSBC. Contribute to the support of risk, regulation compliance, innovation and the shift towards a more strategic viewpoint. Support global joint commercial projects.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- 3 years + proven experience in vendor, cost, commercial management or in related Procurement category roles, preferably in a multi geography/stakeholder FI or equivalent organisation
- Track record of identifying cost reduction/optimisation opportunities.
- Good understanding of procurement sourcing/category management principles whilst also having a sound understanding of financial principles.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure technical platforms and vendor management policies.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and communicate at all levels of the organisation.
- Analytical approach with the ability to understand and resolve problems.
- Experience in managing IT contracts and commercial awareness solutions.

The pay range for this role is 14384 PLN - 18000 PLN (monthly, gross).
Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
