The purpose of this role is to successfully shape and execute against global strategic change agenda.

Strategic Change Managers would - collaborate with the Business on the need & nature of change to leverage the opportunities and manage the challenges in the industry.

The role holders would be instrumental in helping and driving the business to come to well-reasoned decisions in matters of strategic, organisational, operational and technological investment. They would work with the Global Infrastructure Teams & external vendors to create, shape, deliver & embed sustainable change successfully i.e. 'landing' strategy within the business through unified execution capability

They would have proven experience of successfully shaping and executing against a global business strategic change agenda. The role holder needs to be an energized, ambitious and high performing change agent who will lead the scoping and delivery of global strategic change projects with the business. The role holder is expected to be a 'trusted advisor' to business senior management with whom they are partnered by identifying opportunities, constructively challenging conventional thinking, ensuring the Voice of the Customer is embedded in projects and then working to shape, prioritise and drive the execution of their change needs with a focus on delivering the desired customer, colleague, operational and financial outcomes.

The role holders will need to be conversant with all facets of the change process including co-creating business cases and justification for initiatives, initiation of programmes, designing an approach and plan, defining the business architecture, project management, business analysis, readiness and implementation needs as well as ensuring project outcomes and benefits materialize. They will need to be well informed about emerging technology and innovation how this can be applied to solve challenges and improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the Bank's proposition and customer and colleague experience.

They will be accountable for the timely and high quality delivery of programmes, adhering to HSBC core frameworks (Change Framework, Agile). They will be responsible for managing programme costs, headcount, risks and issues and will work to ensure benefits and values are realised.

What you’ll do
    • Influence and collaborate with stakeholders and business partners, building strong relationships to ensure consensus and influence change outcomes. Foster open and honest communication which anticipates stakeholder expectations.
    • Work with executive management across LoBs and key stakeholders (Compliance, Audit, Finance, HR etc.) to constantly challenge ‘perceived wisdom’
    • Develop solutions/TOM/Business model and to recommend, achieve buy-in for the recommended solution/business model and its implementation approach.
    • Analyse current state legacy solutions/operating models against target model to identify gaps and opportunities to support an effective transition towards the target stats
    • To manage the change & its execution and to ensure monetisation of benefits
    • Provide direction to Business Analysts & Project Managers to collectively shape & deliver the change effectively
    • Influence and obtain buy-in from senior management and stakeholders for programme plans, commitments, changes including requirements, quality assurance plans, budget, schedule, scope, risk mitigation and contingency plans
    • Responsible and accountable for the delivery of highly complex and business critical change effort in accordance with existing industry best practices and methodologies, in the process establishing credibility for the Strategic Change team

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Understanding of Innovation within the industry & experience working with Fintech companies to solve business problems
    • Strong knowledge of the external environment - regulatory, political, competitors etc.
    • Good understanding of HSBC Group structures, values, behaviours, processes and objectives
    • A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance
    • Good knowledge of bank’s business model - i.e. the customer proposition, the channels and operations, and the key financial performance drivers
    • Outstanding knowledge of business change - functionally, operationally and financially
    • Strong financial and commercial acumen and the ability to understand and contribute to business cases. Includes ability to understand complex business problems and apply a strong commercial sense.
