The Opportunity: 

The role is a partial people manager role servicing the hub trading sites of HSBC located in London, Paris, Hong Kong, and New York. The role is primarily focused on the reconciliation, price testing, regulatory controls across multiple asset classes and the escalation to relevant stakeholders. The role will support managing the operation and controls as is today, but also support the strategy, articulation, and delivery of the target operating model for the TCFC team and process optimization and delivery. This role involves close engagement with stakeholders in the sites and off-shore Operations teams, IT, Operations Management, Change Management & Finance.


What you’ll do:

  • Support the strategy and implementation of the standardized TCFC controls target operating model.
  • Accountable for process design and optimization to minimize the risk of incidents and reduce cost through automation and efficient processing.
  • Partner with senior business stakeholders including Product Control Management, Front Office COO, Chief Financial Officers to design and implement the Front to Back Operating Model to be adopted across all regions.
  • Agile Product Ownership for controls across all geographies including all associated activities with supervision for senior L1 process owner.
  • Support the efficient and smooth running of day-to-day process.
  • Running daily / monthly controls; investigation & resolution of issues.
  • Responding to ad hoc queries from various Finance, FO, Surveillance & Regulatory reporting.
  • Ensuring quality assurance/testing gives us confidence in the quality of our controls.
  • Support various new initiatives related to data governance and control, and support/establish necessary data governance practices.
  • Influence and escalate issues in an effective way to ensure timely resolution.
  • Lead, motivate and manage a team of finance professionals considering attritions, band progression, contingencies and expectations.
  • Manage sourcing and hiring quality people into the team both internally and externally.
  • Adherence to Group policies, audit, controls, and compliance requirements
  • Ensure all SOPs (standard operating procedures) are in place and updated appropriately.

Information

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Chartered Accountant or equivalent accounting qualification, MBA (Finance) from a leading management institution with at least 10 years of experience
  • Experience in managing high end Accounting or Reporting & Analysis or finance and accounting activities.
  • Experience in reconciling & substantiating traded markets products e.g. FX, fixed income, equities and derivatives.
  • Strong accounting knowledge, including exposure to IFRS accounting.
  • Experience in people management and team leadership preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Technically proficient in systems and in MS Office, particularly Excel. Knowledge of other platforms such as PC Portal, TLM, Cadency and Saracen would be advantageous.
  • Experience in Six Sigma/Lean methodology will be an advantage.
  • Comfortable managing a team which operates across multiple shifts, from HK to NY

  • Experience of migrating processes and systems including remote migrations
