Your career opportunity
The role sits within the Product Control Valuation Infrastructure, Data and Automation department. The team delivers tools that strengthen Product Control activities, provides analytical insights, and drives the development and adoption of strategic infrastructure for Valuations.
The jobholder will primarily focus on building and advancing the infrastructure that enables automation engineering, and on driving the integration and onboarding of Product Control Valuation processes onto the strategic Product Control Valuation infrastructure.
What you’ll do
- Drive and co-ordinate the migration/onboarding of Product Control Valuations processes onto strategic infrastructure.
- Partner with System Architects to shape an effective data and system architecture for the Product Control Valuations area, aligned to strategic platforms, control objectives, and relevant policies/standards.
- Build the operating ecosystem for Product Control engineering and analytics teams to leverage PALMS (Product Approval and Limitations Monitoring System) capabilities to improve control effectiveness, industrialise analytics, and develop Python-based solutions on trusted datasets with controlled access.
- Ensure consistent delivery of standardised, quality-controlled datasets to Product Control Valuations teams and wider stakeholders, with clear ownership of data definitions, lineage, quality and access controls, and appropriate usage.
- Promote and execute modernisation work that enables the decommissioning of legacy SQL Server-based solutions (where appropriate), reducing operational risk and technical debt.
- Collaborate with the wider Product Control Data & Engineering team to support end-to-end delivery of standardised data products to line teams, ensuring consistency of approach and re-use across the function.
- Co-ordinate with Technology to ensure smooth integration, deployment, and operationalisation of solutions, including environment readiness, release management, access provisioning, and alignment to the support model.
- Work closely with Product Control stakeholders to translate valuation and control requirements into pragmatic solutions that are fit-for-purpose and compliant with governance, policies, and audit expectations.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Strong Python programming skills and advanced SQL capability, with experience using data to build analytical and control solutions
- Working knowledge of Agile delivery tools and engineering practices, including Jira, Git, and test-driven development (TDD)
- Proven experience working with Product Control financial data (e.g., valuations, P&L, reserves, IPV, market data and related controls)
- Experience designing and implementing microservice-driven system architectures and supporting integration into strategic platforms
- Degree (or equivalent) from a reputable institution in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Strong analytical skills with a proactive, structured approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly with both technical teams and senior stakeholders
