Role Purpose

The Global Head of Control Standards and Processes is a key position within the GCCOO’s leadership team reporting directly and functionally to the GCCOO. The purpose of the role is to design, implement and oversee the Control Standards and Processes, on behalf of the GCCOO, aligned with the Bank’s risk appetite and regulatory requirements. The role is also responsible for establishing expected outcomes and comparing performance against standards to drive consistent application of standards and best practices for control design.  Partnering closely with the Second Line of Defence (2LOD), the role holder ensures the effective execution of the Risk Management Framework through the Control Standards and Processes. The role holder also owns the collation and monitoring of Group-wide escalation data and trends and identifies and captures Group wide issues.

Principle Accountabilities 

  • Provides guidance and support on operationalisation of Control Standards and Processes to ensure consistency of application so that expected outcomes are achieved
  • Supports the scoping of and consistent application of the control library
  • Provides investment rating support, such as control requirements and parameters that would inform investment decisioning especially for growth
  • Sets Quality Assurance (QA) standards and performs QA including monitoring and measuring processes to ensure compliance with QA standards and establishing protocols for remedial action
  • Provides advice on control remediation ensuring consistency of remedial activity across the Group where similar issues are surfacing
  • Manages audit and regulatory requirements for GCCOO artefacts,
  • Address regulatory findings to deadlines through a disciplined programme approach
  • Oversees and monitors Group wide issue escalation data and trends
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in control processes and standards through feedback mechanisms and benchmarking against industry best practices.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes and emerging risks to adapt control standards accordingly.
  • The role holder will also have general risk assessment and mitigation responsibilities such as
  • Raising awareness and understanding of risks, controls and risk management.
  • Embedding the Bank’s Risk Management Framework
  • Demonstrate the ability to strategically lead the Control Standards team to a value based, and outcome focussed way of working, including driving cultural change to develop strong integrated risk and control management across the Global Business, Global Infrastructure and Entities.
Requirements

Experience 

  • Expertise in Risk and Control Management methodology, SME on all aspects of Control Standards service provision, including understanding of industry best practice and how to implement and maintain an effective control environment.
  • Proven ability to address regulatory findings to deadlines through a disciplined programme focused on business and customer outcomes
