We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Asia and Middle East Operational Resilience, CTOi GBGF.

Operational Resilience is not only core to our regulatory obligations but core to providing the best services for our HSBC customers.  It is a top priority in our HSBC Technology strategy.  This role will be responsible for embedding our operational resilience processes and tooling into our business technology teams to ensure we not only comply with our requirements and controls but also to uplifting our overall company resilience position. 

What you're going to do: 

Operational Resilience in Technology requires collaboration across all parts of Technology – from control implementation for operational resilience requirements in GBGF applications; to service chain mapping to resilience vulnerability identification and management. 

This role is responsible for holding GB GF CIOs accountable for operational resilience, including controls, requirements and outcomes in their GBGFs, aligned with the central CTOi Operational Resilience team in Ops Res and Enablement.  Close partnership is also required with Value Streams in the GB GFs, as well as 2nd and third line colleagues. 

In this role, you will assume several responsibilities: 

Principle Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Lead and manage a team of technology professionals globally, driving a focus on regulatory compliance and controls but also improvement on how we support resilience across the bank
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with a range of business, technology stakeholders. 
  • Compliance: Ensure solutions comply with all relevant regulations, controls policies, and standards across all relevant markets, including our UK and HK home markets.
  • People Management: Build, develop and manage the team of technology professionals, ensuring that they are engaged, motivated, and equipped with the necessary skills and resources to deliver. 
  • Governance and Committee Memberships: Participate in a range of forums including Ops Res working Groups and Steering Committees, Risk and Control Committees and Forums, CTO Extended Leadership.
  • Delivery focused, ensuring RTB and CTB activities are delivered efficiently and on time. 
Requirements

  • Broad and comprehensive understanding of resilience risk and technique to mitigate
  • Broad understanding of technology and risk management in a multi layered defence environment across multiple markets
  • Management responsibility for multiple teams, through subordinate managers, with accountability for independent budgets
  • Ability to manage a wide range of diverse activities that require complex judgements and solutions based on conceptual thought and strategic vision and analysis.
  • Proactivity in developing ideas, continuously searching for improvements in techniques which add value to the business and has full responsibility for implementation.
  • Latitude to make decisions within the objectives of HSBC global business / global function overall. Little guidance is available and role holder is expected to formulate strategy following the objectives of the business.
  • Sets strategy for value for unit / region / product / legal entity.
  • The role holder must possess a high level of sensitivity to the audience, be able to modify the beliefs and opinions of others and negotiate with significant latitude for the final outcome.
  • The role holder must have technical knowledge of heterogeneous systems and platforms to drive the resiliency outcomes.
