Head of Interest Rate Trading - Corporate and Institutional Banking – Global Markets

We provide a full spectrum of treasury services to our customers, including foreign exchange, interest rate risk management, derivatives products, capital markets instruments, as well as market intelligence on global trends and key developments.

Should you join our GM business, you will get to know our customers and design reliable solutions that best meet their needs. You will focus on trading Interest Rates products, managing the risk arisen from the portfolio in order to meet the demand of customers’ needs.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join Interest Rate Trading Department (IRM) as Head of Interest Rate Trading.

Principal responsibilities

  • Management and oversight of IRM in HK
  • Lead IRM teams to deliver both financial and non-financial targets
  • Formulate and drive the strategic priorities and business initiatives of IRM and GM at broader level
  • Responsible for Front Office Supervision and ensure best in class procedures with proper and effective control are in place and implemented. E.G. ensure Key Risk Indicators reports are well scrutinized and signed off in timely manner
  • Guide and monitor the teams’ activities, perform daily front office supervision to ensure GM’s operations are in compliance with regulatory requirement and group policies
  • Formulate trading strategies for IRM and ensure the teams are running according to the plan
  • Oversee the operation of IRM to ensure the overall risk position (e.g. interest rate, credit, liquidity risk, etc) is properly managed and within the set limits
  • Stakeholders management with both external (regulators, interbank counterparties) & internal (GM sales teams, non-GM distribution channels, second line of defense, etc).
  • Promote cross teams, cross businesses and cross border collaborations. Work closely with sales channels and key stakeholders on effective product launch and strategies delivery. 
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the product areas including market liquidity, volatility, pricing and trading strategies
  • Lead IRM to provide consistent and accurate pricing service to sales force and clients, and provide market information or insights to sales teams.
  • Business dependent, monitor daily electronic trading activity and determines where certain trades should be routed for execution, reviews all activity for accuracy of account information
  • Encourage the team to fully understand, embrace RIGHT behaviors and to act according to the Value and Purpose of the bank
  • Dedicate to team members’ career development and to formulate succession plans for the critical roles within the team
Requirements
  • University degree in Quantities Finance, Finance or Mathematics or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in Rates and Fixed Income Trading is a must
  • People management and front office supervision experience with strong control mindset
  • Good communication, interpersonal, analytical skills and detail-oriented are highly sought
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes and communication with top management and other departments
  • Strong sense of financial and non-financial risk from trading perspective
  • Proficiency in both English and Chinese
