We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Marketing, Global Private Banking, Asia Pacific Hong Kong.
Role Purpose
In an environment that is continuously evolving, how can you help us deliver exceptional client growth in our heartland of Asia, both innovatively and efficiently and in a way that sets us apart from our private banking and wealth competitors across key markets?
This is a critical role leading the Asia GPB marketing team to support the Asia Global Private Banking business, as well as acting as lead on HK GPB marketing (our dominant market). The role holder will need to support the GPB Head of Marketing and HK WPB Head of Customer Proposition and Marketing to drive global GPB marketing priorities on the ground including brand identity, sponsorships/partnerships, content usage and digital marketing, as well as interface with local WPB marketing in HK and other Asia markets to ensure an appropriate client continuum and leverage WPB capabilities. The role holder will need to work very closely with the Head of Asia GPB and Head of WPB HK to ensure that the marketing plan underpins the commercial success of the Asia and HK GPB business.
To be successful in this role, you must be a strong people manager, clear communicator, understand HNW and UHNW clients and be passionate about Private Banking
You will lead the development and creation of Asia marketing plans and budgets, contributing to measurable impact on commercial business plans.
You will bring strong leadership skills which will allow you to create a best-in-class marketing function – leading a small but highly effective team, providing clear direction across the whole marketing mix.
- Build a strong and progressive Private banking brand, especially in HK (our dominant market) by developing and delivering strong go-to-market strategy and marketing campaigns to increase market share and achieve AUM & customer growth
- Develop and deliver a compelling Asia GPB marketing plan working with local business leadership to shape out priorities including events, content partnerships and sponsorships, and with global GPB marketing to ensure alignment with global priorities and brand positioning
- Develop and deliver a compelling events pipeline across the region partnering with the business to ensure monetisation of engagements and focus on business development, and with global GPB marketing to ensure alignment with global priorities and brand positioning
- Embrace digital capability and implementation, working with the business and WPB centres of excellence to shape and execute (including effective use of digital channels, analytics and leverage of content)
- Continually keep abreast of market trends, competitive moves and client expectations
- Influence and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders across all levels and regions
- Engage with broader WPB and Group marketing teams to both ensure alignment and synergies, where appropriate and create connectivity for ongoing skillset alignment, etc.
- Lead a regional team with a continuous focus on ensure GPB marketing talent is upskilled and aware of latest marketing techniques and approaches
- Experience working as a part of a senior leadership team

Requirements
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
- Outstanding Customer focus with a keen desire to understand and solve customer challenges and pain points and continuously improve customer experiences
- Ability to translate experiences and information from external sources and apply it to HSBC
- Exceptional verbal and written skills with the ability to turn complex ideas into clear and compelling strategies, stories and approaches
- Clear track record of leveraging customer insight and data to understand, interpret and meet customer needs
- An experienced strategic marketeer - ideally with a track record in planning within an marketing agency.
- Comprehensive understanding of the marketing mix, strong stakeholder management skills
- Resilient and comfortable with ambiguity
- Experience of working within large scale global organisations (knowledge of FS and advantage)
- Highly commercial, demonstrating strategic acumen coupled with a deep understanding of current and emerging social, economic and demographic trends
- Experience in both market and global / regional roles, delivering results in a large matrix organisation an advantage
- Strong understanding of Digital and how this influences and changes customer behavior and marketing
- Proven ability to build strong relationship across stakeholder groups with the ability to effectively influence and communicate across a large and complex business, across multiple locations and with multiple stakeholders
- Flexibility when addressing shifting or competing priorities
- Proven ability to influence large teams without direct leadership authority
- Engaging and energetic team player with a positive “can do” attitude
- Creative problem solver with strong leadership qualities to be motivating and inspiring to others in the team and across the global company
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Masters in Marketing or similar desirable)
