The global service center (GSC) in Bangalore has served as a Global Offshoring hub for various businesses of HSBC, including the asset management group (AMG), and currently enjoys the distinction of being the only offshore service center for the AMG business.

• ESG Data Service is one of the key pillar of AMG Operational Data Capability. The team will be responsible for extracting, managing and analyzing unstructured data collated from different Vendors. This team will have continuous engagement with global and local business teams of AMG to collect, analyze and transform information for meaningful business use.

The Opportunity:

• The purpose of the role is to provide effective data management to AMG’s various teams. Data Service, in this context, refers to ensuring that data required for and utilized by AM’s office is of a suitable quality and available when required for systems or processes.   To demonstrate and support the AM business globally, requires the candidate to provide the information basis for strategic planning by the senior management for businesses and enable effective decision making to satisfy business needs and requirements along with addressing unforeseen challenges.

• The candidate will have to interact with regional teams and must know SQL, Tableau, Visualization, Data Quality.

• The role is based in Bangalore and reports to the Head – AM Bangalore. Ability and experience with working in multiple geographies directly in the regions will be more suitable considering the specific requirements and versatility of the role.

What you’ll do:

• The role demands a highly motivated, pro-active approach to data management with excellent communication skills and a keen attention to detail.

• Sees the 'bigger picture' and assesses relationships between solutions / projects and business performance

• The role demands building lasting and trusted relationships with stakeholders, production support staff and demonstrating to said stakeholders that the data management support offered by the role understands their needs from a data perspective.

• Develop Analytical Information products to support strategic decision making

• Develop data products by leveraging the Big Data technologies in Google Cloud

• Work with key functions and Global teams to deliver solutions effectively

• Liaise with the global business teams, identify use cases and work on existing initiatives.

What you will need to succeed in the role:

• Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

• Big Data Technologies – BigQuery

• Data Management –SQL

• Visualization – Tableau/ Data Studio

• Understanding of investment management business, funds, managed or separately managed accounts

• Candidates should have experience of the investment management industry, significant data management experience, be highly numerate and able to come up with solutions to unanticipated problems where required (ideally drawing on industry expertise and prior experience).

• Demonstrate team ethic through Knowledge Transfer, Peer review & feedback, skills sharing.

• Should be self-motivated, self-starter and result oriented

• Strong problem-solving skills in Capital Market area

• The primary purpose of the role will be to ensure that the Data Ingestion, Data Quality and Data Support provided into various platforms are seamless

• Ability to manage multiple work-streams simultaneously, effectively prioritizing personal and team workload and actively seek guidance for wider priority decisions. Should be flexible to work as an Individual contributor or/and team manager.

• Maintain accuracy and completeness in all outputs, processes, systems and communications as an integral part of delivery

• The candidate will also be expected to achieve results through influence and persuasion as well as exercise direct authority.

• Data management knowledge should include a thorough understanding of investment management data-sets including transactions, holdings and instrument data-sets.

• The candidate should have a functional understanding of the investment management end-to-end trade life cycle.

• The candidate will also be expected to achieve results through influence and persuasion as well as exercise direct authority.

• The candidate will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.

• The candidate will be required to work within the overall framework of the Asset Management Group Operations

What additional skills will be good to have?

• The role will entail working with internal and external stakeholders such as Custodians/sub-custodians etc. and other investment operations personnel within the group.

• Work with internal and external audit and ensure that the framework is implemented and maintained.

• Develop and maintain relationships and work well with peers at the Front Office.

• Support to develop a culture committed to the delivery of outstanding customer service and healthy, open, transparent, honest team environment.

• Encourages the sharing of knowledge and information across teams and leverages from experience and learning from others

• Work with the local management to deliver FO requirement through collaboration and team-work

• Engage with various stakeholders on SIT and UAT

• Effective communication and strong analytical skills is a must

• Effective Stake-holder Management is a must
