  • The Group Functions Data team aim to deliver data management consultancy, support and assurance to all processes, regions and countries within the functions scope. The role holder is expected to have good understanding of the key data management pillars of Data Definition, Data Inventory, Trusted sources and data flow & Data quality monitoring & remediation.
  • The role holder will be responsible for supporting the process owners and driving the adoption of data controls to enable the process owners to demonstrate compliance with the banks data controls and procedures. Will work with the process owners and the broader Group Functions data teams aswell.
  • The role forms a part of the DAO and will help improve all aspects of data governance, quality and management. The role will interface with key stakeholders across functions, in Group Risk as well as Global businesses including GBM and CMB, as well as Finance to implement sound data management activities in support of complex and evolving data requirements.
    The Opportunity:
  • The data program is a complex program which cuts across all aspects of Wholesale Credit, and requires interaction with a number of senior stakeholders across Risk, GBM and CMB in addition to Risk IT. The incumbent is expected to familiarize themselves with the complex systems, architecture and data flow landscape and to identify opportunities for improvement in management of data within this environment.
    What you’ll do:
  • Ensure Wholesale Credit Risk function is compliant with Data Management (D.MAN) principles and other regulations including BCBS239, etc globally which mainly includes implementation of DUSE framework as guided by Data Utility and Central Projects team.
    Perform Data governance tasks across functions
    Data Governance:
  • Identify business process (report production/metric production) and get them registered in ARIS.
  • Onboarding BDEs as per Global and Region wise requirement, define critical Data control and document them in DDT (Onboarding template)
  • Maintain the BDE list, ensure the Governed BDEs are rightly reflecting in respective systems /dashboards.
  • Annual attestation of BDEs from business process owners so that they are they are aligned to FIM policy
  • Ensuring BCBS BDE’s and respective metrics are tagged to right processes.
  • Timely check between DG and DQ dashboard, to make sure the dashboard reflects right data.
  • Working with DQ team, to make sure all the BDEs are rightly stitched and ensure KCIs are in place as per the requirements
  • Working with region wise stakeholders to make sure all the BDEs are monitored.
    Lineage:
  • Preparing data lineage for BCBS, IFRS9 and other workstreams to make sure, they complained with FIM compliance.
  • Working on Trusted Source Framework where BDEs upstream and downstream systems are tracked.
  • Review lineage annually to make sure they are in-line with FIM polices and getting sign-off from all region stakeholders.
    Other Activities:
  • Working with Data policy team to make sure, we are compliant with FIM framework, gathering and documentation of evidence annually.
  • Engage with ITSO, Global Finance team on various projects
  • Understanding and reverting back to any queries on DG.
  • Working on Limitation process, where DQ issues with budget, IT and other constrains are tracked and follow up their remediation. 
  • Working along with the Data Lead on DCIA (Data Controls Impact Assessment) to understand how change initiatives impacts the data within the scope.
  • Work in collaboration with the DAO Data Governance, Data Architecture, Data Quality, Utility and other team to implement the DUSE framework and get the BCBS required scoring in place.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Masters in engineering or business Management
  • Minimum 6 - 8 years of Experience focused primarily in the Financial Services & Risk tools relating to Data Management.
  • A proven track record in establishing a high performance and efficient Data & Information Management unit.
  • Experience in driving and large-scale change and transformation Programs
  • Experience with a Consulting organization and practices and Program/Project Management
  • Client/Account Management experience and/or P&L Management Experience is a plus.
  • Strong track record of managing and leading teams
  • Exceptionally strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Ability to think creatively to drive innovative solutions.
  • Ability to build connections and work collaboratively across boundaries.
  • Strong communication skills, in particular the ability to produce high quality reports which are articulate and effectively deliver the right message to the recipients.
    Functional requirements –
  • Good knowledge of the risk management processes and systems.
  • Experience in implementing data governance framework. Data Quality controls implementation/remediation will be an added advantage.
  • Good understanding/experience in Data Lineage and Trusted Source Framework concepts
  • End-user experience in Qlik sense dashboards is mandatory.
  • Basic understanding HSBC internal applications like Collibra, Atlas, DRR etc.
  • Prior experience in data management, regulatory reporting and BCBS 239/IRR PRA project is a plus.
  • Understanding of concepts of credit risk such as EAD, LGD, CRR, Value at Risk and RWA
  • Good understanding of Credit Risk & Customer reference data systems
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to change and ability to support others to respond in a similar way.
  • Proficient at business analysis – be able to make sense of large data sets & connect, manipulate, join, use them for analysis.
    What additional skills will be good to have?
  • Written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and develop end to end solutions.
  • Collaborate with partners across business groups, evaluate emerging techniques that may contribute to existing analytical capabilities and computational models.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams. Strong interpersonal skills and drive for success.
  • Maintain the level of communication/interaction across the team and direct manager including onshore business partners.
  • Strong analytical skills with business analysis aptitude. Knowledge and understanding of financial-services/ banking-operations is advantageous.
