Payments Business serves multiple distinct Business Regions of HSBC Bank covering their entire Global Payments operations. A number of differing platforms are used for different business regions. The fact that the large payments transactions expose substantial financial/reputational risks to the Bank; the COE is gearing itself to take it to next level by strengthening its management team.

The Opportunity:

  • Systems Security Administration (referred to as SSA) is responsible for the user security administration of Global Payments Systems for HSBC Bank Plc on the HBEU platform and HSBC UK on the HBUK platform. SSA’s area of responsibility has broadened and now includes ‘local’ access security risk and compliance, with regards to those systems managed by SSA on behalf of the Payment Services Department.
  • This includes the role of auditor for these areas, ensuring that the audit process works effectively as part of SSA’ s risk mitigation policy both in terms of risk avoidance/reduction and of minimising the impact of non-compliance and fraudulent activity and the creation and management of SWIFT certificates globally.
  • This role is responsible for system security access, audit functions and SWIFT certification across multiple payment areas globally providing important control functions and support to the processing of transactions through the payments infrastructure
  • A flexible approach is required to be adopted, where personal circumstances allow, e.g. in terms of working hours. This role is not subject to close supervision and will therefore be expected to exercise initiative in proactively resolving obstacles / issues impacting process / performance.

What you’ll do:

  • GPI tracker access management
  • Perform Payment service system change audit reviews.
  • Responsible for creating, amending, deleting user system access (employees and bank corporate customers) and for the administration of passwords for various global payments systems.
  • Responsible as the SWIFT out of hours contact
  • Manage SWIFT certificates globally
  • Quality audit reviews
  • No Operational Losses or internal/external customer complaints as a direct result of work undertaken.
  • Prioritize and schedules time effectively using planning tools available, including contingency and being flexible in your approach.
  • Maintain effective controls related to the role’s responsibilities
  • Ensure minimum annual review of all process procedures and initiate review throughout the year, where appropriate to ensure relevance and accuracy.
  • Liaising with Internal Customers and Stakeholders to improve customer experience, reduce risk and resolve issues.
  • Ensure that the process requirements are met, adhered to, completed in accordance with established procedures.
  • Converse with counterparties in Global offices to develop and share best practice ensuring that we provide the best service possible to our customers.
  • Interact with internal and external customers in a sensitive manner and build long term relationships to achieve business aims.
  • Undertake special projects (ad hoc) to support other areas of GPSO
  • Promotion of self as escalation point for area of responsibility providing a timely accurate response to enquiry escalation / complaints.
  • Build and maintain network and effective working relationship with all stakeholders relevant to role.
  • Actively participate and contribute to meetings and working groups, representing GPS operations. 
  • Communicate effectively with the business, IT and other team members.
  • Co-operate and work well with others to achieve business aims. Enable and support a sense of team spirit, encourage and take part in open communication and sharing best practice.
  • To continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
  • In conjunction with Compliance department, to implement the Group Compliance Policy by containing compliance risk in conjunction with the relevant compliance department. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
  • To adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls
  • Ensure Audit requirements are implemented in a timely manner
  • Maintain information Security

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • The jobholder must keep up to date with the changing technology within payments - E
  • Frequency of Regulatory and Business Mandatory driven changes- E
  • The variety and complexity of Payments projects/initiatives across UK/EMEA/Global regions - E
  • The primary challenge is to keep abreast with the levels of knowledge and understanding relevant to all processes under assignment and relative to new developments impacting on the area, whilst maintaining control on the day-to-day operations- E
  • Adhere to Group Compliance policy, FIMs and Global Standards. - D
  • Manage and evaluate all risks against our controls in daily work and projects. - E
  • Raise timely MSIIs as required, and evidence controls through Risk Control tests. - E
  • Continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business. - E

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Previous experience in a Payments process and Investigation (E)
