We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Manager, Risk & Governance.

Role purpose (overall high-level summary of the role)

We are seeking a Manager, Risk & Governance to support our global marketing efforts within Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB). This role focuses on ensuring marketing activities comply with risk management standards and supports the governance framework for marketing

This role will support CIB Marketing in aligning marketing efforts with the bank’s global priorities, ensuring compliance with governance standards and effective risk management. It's ideal for a marketing professional who excels in identifying risks, implementing governance frameworks, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to achieve measurable business impact.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)

In this role you will:

Marketing Risk Management

  • Assist in identifying and assessing risks associated with marketing activities, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements
  • Support the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies for marketing initiatives
  • Help monitor and report on marketing risk exposure, providing insights to senior leadership
  • Oversight of Management Self-Identified Issues (MSIIs) and action plans

Governance and Compliance

  • Support governance processes across marketing planning and execution, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations
  • Assist in promoting the use of best-in-class tools and methodologies to ensure compliance within the marketing function
  • Ensure marketing teams are equipped with the necessary guidelines and support to execute activities within governance frameworks
  • Implement and maintain regular marketing forums such as QBRs

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Collaborate with Business and Client/Sector Marketing teams to support risk management strategies and business alignment
  • Assist marketing leadership with the development of governance frameworks for new programs
  • Foster a culture of transparency and continuous improvement in risk management practices
  • Advocate for Agile Principles and support an Agile way of working within the team
  • Promote the organization’s values and contribute to a diverse environment reflecting the HSBC brand
Requirements

Functional Knowledge

To be successful you will need:

  • Extensive years of experience in marketing risk management or governance roles within a financial service or B2B environment
  • Familiarity with risk assessment and compliance reporting
  • Understanding of the institutional banking landscape and related product lines
  • Strong analytical skills with knowledge of risk management KPIs and compliance metrics
  • Experience in complex organizations and collaboration across business and marketing leadership
  • Effective communicator with the ability to present insights to stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify potential risks early
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field preferred
