We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Manager, WEM Portfolio Management.

Principal Responsibilities 

The Wealth Portfolio Management Manager (PS) is a key contributor to the WPB to achieve its strategic objectives in HSBC. The main objectives of the role are to review the portfolio health and conduct portfolio analysis regularly to support our customers’ complex wealth Management objectives. A PS will be required to cooperate with Premier Relationship Managers (PRMs) to add value to our clients with higher sophistication. Whilst PRMs own the end-to-end advisory and sales process with clients, PS assists PRMs to understand the clients better by reviewing their clients’ portfolios to identify follow-up opportunities for them. PS is also expected to make suitable recommendations to facilitate the understanding of the value and risks of the solutions our clients invested in and/ or available to them, as well as keeping RMs updated with changes in the markets and the impact on clients' portfolio composition. The goal of a successful applicant is to acquire a higher level of customer trust and commitment whilst enhancing the width and depth of clients’ relationships with HSBC to drive growth in net sales. The role is a specialist role and is expected to exercise a forward-looking mindset in the analysis and balancing of a portfolio.

The role holder may be responsible for some or all of the following tasks:

  • Demonstrate expert knowledge in one or more product categories from the following list with relevance to the Markets; examples are Unit Trust/ Structured Products/ Fixed Income/ FX/ Estate Planning/ Retirement/ Protection, etc.
  • Exhibit a strong qualitative and quantitative understanding of the financial markets, socioeconomic dynamics, and regulatory requirement capability to advise the formulation of strategic direction
  • Exercise a forward-looking mindset in the analysis of financial markets and development of market insights. Implement the globally standardized House View to drive the wealth investment direction for the frontline salesforce under different market environments and scenarios
  • Conduct detailed examination and analysis of clients’ portfolios to discover untapped opportunities, and deliver robust & needs-based wealth solutions & initiatives
  • Analyse and interpret complex data of clients’ portfolios and formulate Management Information to facilitate an informed decision-making process and the formulation of bespoke investment wealth solutions for clients
  • Coordinate with Investment Team Leaders to manage activities, and work with internal stakeholders to facilitate knowledge transfer on product initiatives, investment wealth solutions, and the financial markets and deliver high-quality sales services
  • Support the frontline sales team on portfolio reviews to identify risks and opportunities, and consolidate key market updates and information to prepare sales scripts for conversation initiation
  • Identify and consolidate feedback from Relationship Managers and clients to product teams to facilitate continuous improvement of our products and services
  • Liaise with the project team and stakeholders to facilitate project development and resolve project blockers as they arise
  • Initiate and conduct educational events with clients to improve clients’ financial literacy and knowledge of financial markets and solutions
  • Possess knowledge of, and comply with local regulations in all aspects of compliance and due diligence; examples are strategy, sales processes, product suitability, client correspondence, and complaint handling
Requirements
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in business, finance, related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 year experience in wealth banking, product specialist, financial advisor, or equivalent
  • Strong relationship management, communication and negotiation skills, and sales capability in client servicing to manage the consultative sales process and provide needs-based solutions
  • Positive and proactive attitude, with the flexibility to collaborate in a team setting, and willingness to take on new responsibilities
  • Extensive external market awareness of market conditions, new product solutions, and a robust understanding of financial market activities
  • Capability to demonstrate a forward-looking mindset in the analysis of financial markets and development of market insights
  • Proven track record of conducting detailed portfolio analysis and management to capture wealth investment opportunities
  • Deep knowledge of specific complex financial solutions and products including the knowledge of financial markets, socioeconomic dynamics, and regulatory requirements relevant to the products
  • Excellent communication skills in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese
  • Specialisation in one or more product categories e.g. Unit Trust/ Structured Products/ Fixed Income/ FX/ Estate Planning/ Retirement/ Protection etc.
  • A solid understanding of local and Group compliance regulations, customer due diligence, portfolio risk identification, and global Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards
