The Opportunity:

  • Wholesale Servicing Operations is a part of DBS Operations and delivers a centralized operations utility for HSBC's Corporate Digital Channels (including HSBCnet, Host-to-Host Connect, and SWIFT net) supporting payments, cards, receivables, liquidity, trade, supply chain finance, custody, securities services, and money market trading solutions globally across Europe, Asia, Middle East, North and Latin America.
  • The team caters to CMB and GB&M customers of HSBC and provides service and support for the customer digital lifecycle across Channels, GTRF, and HSS products. It spans across 2 Global Service Centers (Bangalore and Guangzhou).
  • The Central Testing team is responsible for the Business Acceptance Testing (BAT) for HSBCnet, HSBC Connect, and Digital Business Banking. The team will function in co-ordination with the Test and Release Management, Digital Channels, Vancouver. The purpose of the role will be to perform the Business Acceptance testing for HSBCnet, HSBC Connect and DBB by ensuring the application is tested as per the Requirement Specifications and to maintain 100% quality.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Impact on Business/Function

  • Manage, prepare, and plan execution of all assigned region and project specific test plans including detailed analysis and review of testing scope for each system, service, and tool. 
  • Work with business project managers, project sponsors, IT development and environment teams, and HSBCnet Release managers to coordinate global acceptance testing requirements for assigned regions/ programs.
  • Identify and initiate analysis for complex problems and issues as it relates to assigned areas of responsibility. Define and develop alternative courses of action, as required.
  • Provide regular accurate status reporting to Senior Management of the status of assigned programs/projects, ensuring issues are escalated as appropriate.
  • Through detailed review/understanding of the business user requirements and functional specifications delivered for each project, ensure accurate and complete test scripts are produced.  Ensure all necessary test conditions are available to be executed during the assigned testing period. 
  • Track and troubleshoot high priority issues with both business and IT. Liaise with appropriate parties. Ensure accurate and appropriate priorities are applied to all error logs raised.
  • Undertake the role of overall BAT Manager and/or Release manager for any releases assigned. 
  • Monitors the performance of assigned projects to assure project objectives are met and provide regular and comprehensive reporting to management indicating all related issues and risks with plans to mitigate where possible.
  • All the projects that have been approved for delivery in a release are completed successfully. All sign offs provided with scope defined accurately on time.
  • No Production defects are identified within the scope of Testing conducted by the delivery team.
  • Acceptance tests on projects managed by this position will: Require from 100 – 2,000 test conditions to be run, depending on the scope of the HSBCnet release. The average size per region/product line is approximately 750.

Impact on Customers/Stakeholders

  • Act as first point of escalation for business and IT to resolve, negotiate, and progress issues as necessary.
  • Manage UAT progress for assigned areas of responsibility to ensure planned testing activities and batch dependencies for each cycle are understood and setup with testing being completed as scheduled to avoid unnecessary UAT delays.
  • Provide regular accurate status reporting to Senior Management of the status of assigned programs/projects, ensuring issues are escalated as appropriate.
  • Risk Assessment of projects at risk for delivery in a release.
  • Work closely with Business Project / Program Managers to finalize the commercialization plans for assigned projects / programs and facilitate Production Verification Testing either on or following the release date.
  • Maximize the utilization of the Central Testing team for business so that product managers can focus on Sales and Development.
  • Identify and facilitate opportunities for Testing centralization to drive increase in contribution towards Testing of E-channels.

  • Sound knowledge of Group compliance, Operational Risk for HSBCnet
  • Develop and recommend changes and improvements to operating models, procedures and practices based on subject matter expertise and understanding of HSBC and market best practice.
  • Communicate and adhere to HSBC policy and procedures to ensure good operational, financial and project management, policy and procedural compliance and early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of Helpdesk management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels.
  • Ensure that Operational Risk / Compliance / Audit requirements are taken care of in activities undertaken.
  • Ensure that appropriate BCP strategies are in place for all production activities.
