The Opportunity:

  • The role holder will sit between CIB Business, Wholesale Operations Business Services, Regional Leads, Risk, Transformation, HR and Comms.
  • To understand and maintain a high level of interaction between all these stakeholders, combine conflicting aspirations and anticipation of the future needs of all stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with the Wholesale Operations OD&S Lead and business management team on delivery and strategy related activities including Data & MI, Global Business reviews, Strategy, Cost and Supplier Management and Governance
  • Provide dedicated business management support to the overall Wholesale Operations
  • To understand ambiguous asks, translating complex business situations into tangible goals and actions in a limited amount of time.
  • To understand 1) of the industry in a global context, 2) of the HSBC context and 3) of the drive for cost savings.
  • Translate stakeholder needs to action plan.
  • Align Business Service/Utility and Regional plans and goals with those of CIB
  • Play a major role within a team of highly motivated and demanding individuals in a complex environment of constant change.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize the tasks
  • To look at data visualization and storytelling across Wholesale Operations, creating input into governance and operational management forums.  

What you’ll do:

  • Act as the relationship manager and point of contact to the Business Services representing the Wholesale Ops OD&S team.
    Active management over Wholesale OD&S Planning, Headcount, MI, and Governance actions as well as support the Head of Wholesale OD&S with specific assistance in presenting and explaining financial or service performance information.
  • Governance – Help drive governance framework, with CIB partners and Global Business partners to ensure transparency, collaboration, and update / escalation of key issues.
  • Data / MI – Help drive MI agenda for Wholesale Operations OD&S presenting and explaining financial and/or service performance information to both internal and external stakeholders. E.g., Monthly Headcount Movement, Monthly Financial Reporting etc. to drive Optimisation opportunities, common initiatives, fungible workforce etc.
    Customers / Stakeholders
  • Act as single point of contact between the CIB Central team and the Business Service and Region
  • Support all CIB initiatives and ensure implementation in Business Service and Region
  • Support the head/management of Business Service and Region in all areas included in the OD&S mandate.
    Leadership & Teamwork
  • Understanding and translating CIB and Group strategy into immediate business/function and aligning direction for self and teams
  • Setting world class standards and embedding these in immediate business/function area
  • Leading from the front by courageously setting and executing stretching goals for the immediate business/function area
  • Authentically engaging a diverse group of stakeholders to deliver at pace.
  • Making considered decisions that protect and enhance HSBC values, reputation, and business
    Operational Effectiveness & Control
  • Key driver in operational design and strategy
  • Responsible for Business Service/Utility and Regional financial, headcount, operational performance, and data MI accuracy
  • Responsible for sustainable and best in class tool set for driving operational excellence and engagement/culture within the team
  • Support Business Service and CIB COO team in its governance and control efforts in regards of among other things mandatory trainings, regulatory compliance and other control and effectiveness initiatives
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

The jobholder would not be subject to close supervision and will be expected to exercise initiative and judgment in proactively overcoming obstacles to success
  • Ability to create data models and dashboards for effective reporting and visualization (desirable: PowerBI)
