The Opportunity:

  • The purpose of the role is to manage product development, product governance and Go To market strategy for the assigned product within global electronic payment portfolio e.g. real time payments.
  • The role requires an individual to engage with product stakeholders and risk stewards at all levels across the globe, ensuring that Global Payment Solutions (GPS) drives delivery of products launch/material enhancements. The individual needs to ensure that our products remain compliant with regulation and global standards while managing risks. This role requires the incumbent to be comfortable in dealing with ambiguous situations.

What you’ll do:

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)

  • Industry experience, in Payments, Cash Management and/or Treasury Management. Especially sound understanding of payment flows
  • Product management or product development experience preferred
  • Good understanding of HSBC payment architecture and flow
  • Experience in working in large scale programs across client, market and regulatory requirements preferred
  • Ability to effectively work in a diverse and multicultural team.
  • Effective communicator across all levels, functional groups and geographies. Good communication and presentation skills – both verbal and written.
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities, self-motivated, willing to take ownership and responsibility.
  • Managing demands from several sources and working to deadlines
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use independent judgement to make decisions where no precedent exists.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Able to lead and influence a large group of people, who will not have a formal reporting relationship with the individual.
  • Ability to co-ordinate with multiple stakeholders at global level, and get necessary decisions taken within desired timelines.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and influencing skills.
  • Ability to coach / mentor to junior product managers in the team
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English is expected.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Functional Knowledge

  • Minimum of 12 years work experience in Transaction banking, preferably in Payment’s product management
  • Proven experience in product management, product commercialization, IT and operations, process improvements or project management disciplines.
  • Practical knowledge in solution development, business case development, requirement analysis are highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze complex problems, interpret customer and/or operational needs and develop integrated, creative solutions.

Others

  • University degree (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial or transaction banking functions with an exposure to Product Management.
  • Experience in implementing large scale product development project.
  • Familiarity with product governance and project management disciplines.
  • Understanding of relevant regulatory environment and impact.
  • Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
