The Opportunity:

  • Fulfilment Operations - Project Managers will assist the Sr Project Manager to organize and lead projects from project Scoping to Closure. They will typically support the delivery of multiple small, or singular large, remediation projects and can be responsible for leading a work stream. They are responsible for following the guidelines under HBUK Customer Redress, using standard project management tools. They will need to work closely with the Business Analysts, Data Analysts, Developers and Analytics team to deliver and close projects assigned or identified to remediate customers.

What you’ll do:

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)

Value Creation

  • Demonstrates good knowledge of Project Management Framework, supporting the creation of detailed plans including key activities and milestones.
  • Supports Project Manager Lead in defining required scope, quality, cost and effort.
  • PMO and practice liaison
  • Understands the impact of change requests to scope, time or effort and helps identifying new requirements to deliver the project successfully.
  • Measures progress against the plan and, with the Project Manager Lead, takes action to ensure results are achieved and exceeded where possible focusing on quality and review requirements and builds on feedback.
  • Helps the Project Manager Lead manage against the plan, looking ahead and removing roadblocks to delivery. Ask questions when they do not understand, takes ownership of problems, and escalates when needed (remaining calm, knowing when to escalate, escalates with possible solutions)
  • Proactively and effectively manages own time and workload, advocates to team the importance of project pace to achieve successful delivery.
  • Keeps focus on the medium- and long-term goals and the Group’s values particularly when under short term pressure.

Operational Performance

  • Assists with the production of a well-defined project plan, identifying the key milestones and support the project manager lead in the assigning of role/task responsibilities.
  • Assists the Project Manager Lead with project mobilization including activities such as onboarding resources.
  • Work with Project Manager Lead to provide project governance and compliance, identifying and raising issues when necessary, controlling project tollgates, managing project budgets and helping maintain change control
  • Helps ensure that the project team follows all quality assurance processes, Business Review Center Frameworks
  • Tracks, reviews and controls project progress and performance at clearly defined points in the process to help ensure that the project is delivered on time anticipating potential risks and issues, putting mitigating actions into place to prevent delivery stalling and escalating as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates understanding of analytical tools and techniques to prepare and analyze management reports; identifying factors that are putting the program off track, monitor and share progress with stakeholders.
  • Support the Project Manager Lead with closure activities, including post project review and handover.
  • Associate Project Manager produces deliverables that are of a high quality (well structured, insightful, no errors) and with sufficient review time and appropriate response to feedback.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Functional Knowledge

  • The jobholder will be expected to adopt an agile and flexible approach to work and an outstanding level of professionalism and conduct.
  • The jobholder will be required to support the management of large projects (or programs) and/or manage one or more project work streams (sub-projects) with some level of complexity and scope.
  • Understanding of Project Management Frameworks, methodologies and best practice techniques.
  • Understanding of the project lifecycle.
  • Proficient in using MS office, JIRA, and Confluence project management tools.

Experience

  • Project management skills and experience, including examples of the delivery of on time – a driver with bias towards delivery at pace and controlling project outcomes.
  • Experience of working in a banking environment and change projects
  • Evidence of strong communication and influencing skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and some experience in presentation

Qualifications and Accreditations

  • Evidence of self-development e.g. working through appropriate curriculum
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) - Desirable
  • PMP training or certification - Desirable
  • Prince2 - Desirable
