Risk & Compliance IT delivers cutting-edge technology to protect the Bank and its customers from Financial Crime and to meet our various regulatory commitments.

Our applications/services cover Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions & PEP Screening, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Regulatory and Tax Reporting, Customer Due Diligence/KYC (Know Your Customer) and Risk Management.

The role holder will lead the Cross Portfolio Technology initiatives and act as a strong partner to business teams across HSBC delivering evolutionary and transformation change and technology service assurance, working with regional and global business / technology leads to provide optimised global services adjusted to address regional requirements where appropriate. 

This is a global role supporting a broad range of solutions and involves engaging with development resources from CoE’s within other parts of Enterprise Technology. The role holder will cover all software delivery including responsibility for strategy, budget, people, vendor service management, contracts and risks. The role holder will also drive sharing and re-use across these products including ensuring resources are skilled in both and the right solution are selected for different use cases.

What you’ll do:

·       Establish a framework for resolving and impact assessing change that spans Risk & Compliance (e.g., acquisitions, divestments, large regulatory programmes)

·       Work with architecture to develop high level designs and plans to accommodate R&C spanning changes.

·       Communicate progress to senior stakeholders, both IT and business

·       Manage change across multiple agile / value stream delivery teams to deliver across Risk and Compliance

·       Establish and document end to end data flows and connectivity.

·       Drive technical design sessions, tease out and detail dependencies.

·       Deliver agreed initiatives and book of work.

·       Act as the senior leader and overall service owner of initiatives that span cross Risk & Compliance technology.

·       Build a relationship of trust and influence across the functions and build strong relationships.

·       Responsible for technology CTB budgets and defining appropriate RTB for service lines.

·       Report on change delivery and service quality status on behalf of service line.

·       Ensure Technology and operational risks are appropriately controlled in line with Group and business objectives.

·       Drive team engagement and cultural initiatives for the function.  Engage and develop an effective global team through town halls, communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices.

·       Cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand and values.

 

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role

 

·       An experienced technology leader with a track record of on time delivery and innovation.

·       Knowledge / experience of working with a variety of technology solutions, from Saas/Cloud to on on-prem would be advantageous.

·       Knowledge of banking and the global regulatory environment.

·       Ability to manage and innovate in a global setting across a matrixed estate.

·       Vendor management expertise including in an outsourced model.

·       Data architecture, integration and analytics knowledge would be beneficial.

·       Good understanding of Agile adoption and DevOps.

·       Strong financial acumen, budgeting and forecasting and ability to operate strategically on commercial matters.

·       Track record of forming strong partnerships with external vendors and assurance of their deliverables.

·       People / local leadership experience of large teams (matrixed up to 100).

·       Dynamic with an ability to drive culture change and engagement.

·       Ability to communicate with senior stakeholders with gravitas. Strong communications skills, influencing and negotiation.

·       Excellent written skills with ability to express complex topics and problems effectively.

·       Strong risk and issue management skills.

·       Ability to manage multiple threads of work under pressure.

·       Experience of working with complex stakeholders in a global setting.

·       Ability to develop new and adapt existing processes for increased quality and efficiency whilst encouraging others to seek new ideas/solutions to day-to-day problems.
