The Opportunity:

  • The position is with GAC and will report into Assistant Director of Regulatory Analytics GAC. As a member of the team the candidate will contribute to extending the group IFRS9 analytics by contributing to developing various IFRS9 calculations and analytical tools like Impairment Calculation Engine and analytics reporting using reporting tools like Qliksense, tableau etc.  Individual will be responsible for managing stakeholders. This role forms part of Regulatory Analytics team whose purpose is to support the bank’s IFRS 9 loss provisioning for portfolios within Retail banking. The role will involve hands-on involvement across the analytics life cycle as well as the management and guidance of junior team members.

What you’ll do:

  • Operate as an individual contributor within the IFRS9 ECL Insight and Analytics and Loss forecasting function
  • Drive portfolio analytics to identify key drivers and insights for movement in Expected Credit Loss for all retail portfolios across markets.
  • Drive loan impairment analytics to identify drivers for changes vis-à-vis annual loss forecast plan 
  • Continuously looking at the macro environment challenges and use that while providing insights
  • Analytical reporting for both IFRS9 and Loss forecasting function by developing MI to explain the drivers of various changes.
  • Develop various tools using technology to support analytics and analytical reporting – SAS, Python, R Qliksense and more importantly ability to learn and adapt new technology with changing times. 
  • Engage with business partners to provide business priorities, present various analytical output to various review committees (comprising senior management from various functions within businesses)
  • Guide the team in best practices with respect to governance and SOX controls and support Internal Audit and External Audit
  • Ensure open, transparent, proactive and timely interaction with major stakeholders (subject matter experts, regional / group stakeholders, governance /control / implementation team) in alignment with values and behavior principles
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • 2-6 years’ experience required, preferably in banking / analytics
  • PG in mathematics/Statistics/Economics/Engineering or equivalent; MBA is a plus
  • Relevant experience in analytics specifically in the fields like Credit Risk Modeling & Basel, Loss Forecasting / Reserving, Risk Strategy,
  • Marketing analytics/IFRS 9/Stress testing/CECL etc. 
  • Prior exposure in stress testing and / or impairment reserves would be an added advantage
  • Good understanding of consumer lending products like Credit Cards, Mortgages, Personal Loans, Overdraft, Auto Loans and Line of credit 
  • Excellent communication skills with technical (the team) and non-technical (senior management in region) counterparts; being able to "translate" between the two worlds is essential
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to grasp new concepts quickly
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Internal Candidates should fulfill regular IJP guidelines & eligibility criteria.

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Knowledge of SAS / Python / R 
  • Ability to learn and adapt new technology with changing times.
