The Opportunity:

Within HSBC’s Global Banking and Markets IT department, Security Financing (SF) technology is responsible for the delivery of innovative technology solutions for the SF business to enable maximized revenue performance while minimizing costs.  Current departmental projects include, among many others, the development of securities borrowing and lending trading system, inventory management and business services used across different trading desks.  The department is committed to the production of high-quality enterprise-strength software and has a change agenda that extends way beyond 2020. This makes SF technology a dynamic, challenging and rewarding place to work.  We are now inviting an experienced professional to join our team.

What you’ll do:

• Understanding business initiatives through regular interactions with project managers, business analysts and development managers.
• Work closely with local and global development teams in overall solution design and technical design activities.
• Deliver high-quality Java server-side software solution in a timely fashion.  Any software developed is rigorously unit tested (including but not limited to automated unit tests), satisfies the requirements while adhering to the technical design and existing departmental standards and best practices for software development.
• Provide bug fixing as needed throughout the project lifecycle.  

• University graduate with working experience in software development, ideally multi-tier / real time applications
• Strong knowledge of Java server-side and relational database management systems.  Candidate will be tested.
• Knowledge of Hibernate/JPA, Spring, Spring Integration, Web services, JMS/Messaging and Oracle (PL/SQL)
• Good communication
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
• Ability to learn fast and rapidly assimilate new business requirements
• Disciplined approach, able to follow process and suggest improvements where necessary
• Strong knowledge and comprehensive experience on development of micro-services

What additional skills will be good to have?

• Web dev experience is a plus
• Experience on OLAP solution is a plus
• Cloud related development experience is a plus
