  • Wholesale Chief Administration Office is a key component of the WCOO – Wholesale Transformation and Performance team construct, supporting the execution and enablement of Wholesale – CMB and GB businesses, with emphasis on strategy execution, planning, transformation, operations (including 3rd party), processes, analytics, customer experience, systems, controls and effectiveness.
  • This is a key role of Chief Operating Office (COO) and Business Management of Wholesale businesses (CMB and GB) team based in Hyderabad. The COO team is responsible for providing support across multiple regions, countries in Asia, Europe, Middle East, Americas etc., Perform financial, operational, technological, and Programme/Project Management Framework, supporting the creation of detailed plans including key activities and milestones tasks related to Wholesale businesses (CMB and GB).

What you’ll do:

  • This individual will be tasked with the development and execution of WCAO-related automation and AI solutions; identify process improvement quick wins managing service propositions in a more holistic way to streamline processes and identify the most appropriate “home” for various tasks or initiatives, allocate tasks or initiatives appropriately, and support global ad hoc projects.
  • In this individual contributor(IC) role, significant influence skills will be essential to mobilize individuals and garner support from countries globally. Collaboration with teams, regardless of reporting structures, will be essential. This role requires a high degree of agility, adaptability, enabling the individual to transition swiftly between various initiatives drilling into details, operational tasks and activities.
  • The individual will be operationally responsible for GB including Investment Banking WCOO related operational and coordination activities including job catalogue governance, workforce management, supporting productivity metrics reporting, supporting location strategy, and facilities management. This will also include GB/IB related tasks in service performance, supplier management, cost insights, and financial management, including indirect and direct cost monitoring, cost efficiency initiatives, and third-party spend oversight.
  • Programme/Project Management Framework, supporting the creation of detailed plans including key activities and milestones
  • Financial and Cost Management: Tracking training and other similar items, cost charges/headcount related tasks, monitoring Bloomberg license costs, sales credit, intercompany invoices, and chasing unpaid invoices from roadshows and events. These tasks require a good understanding of financial management and cost accounting.
  • These tasks require a strong understanding of data management and information systems.
  • Drive progress against the plan, looking ahead and removing roadblocks to delivery.  Ask questions when they do not understand, takes ownership of problems, and escalates when needed (remaining calm, knowing when to escalate, escalates with possible solutions). 
  • Support Wholesale businesses (CMB and), WCOO in enabling effective review of the total Business costs (Direct/Indirect)
  • Tracks and reports financial performance metrics and builds budget control to manage expenses.
  • Track, monitor and report Actuals at functions/Project level efficiencies and saves for the businesses
  • Provide management support to regional and country CAO leads on an ad-hoc basis as required. 
  • Ensure strategic objectives are translated into initiatives and brought into reality, working with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate mechanisms for key measurements and monitoring to ensure transparency and progress evaluation.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure correct focus and direction for the business area across the bank.
  • In collaboration with Wholesale (CMB / GB) and Digital Business Services (DBS) sub-functions, executing key initiatives including streamlining, simplification and service mapping, working alongside process re-engineering colleagues as required.
  • Develop close and effective working relationships with Global Business & Functions / Regional strategy teams.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Experience in developing and executing automation and AI solutions, with a focus on process improvement and streamlining.
  • Proficiency in Programme/Project Management Frameworks, including the creation of detailed plans with key activities and milestones.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, Cost accounting - Professional qualification in Finance – CA/CPA would be beneficial
  • Advanced excel and power point skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and solid experience in face-to-face presentation
  • Proven data management and MI production experience in a complex Business environment.
  • Ability to understand a dynamic and diverse cost base whilst also reporting on a broad portfolio of investments. Requirement to track and report on progress
  • Proven ability to build relationships by communicating, influencing and negotiating effectively with senior stakeholders, within both Wholesale businesses (CMB and GB)
  • Self-motivated, accountable, focus on driving results and able to navigate across a wide range of stakeholders.

Functional Knowledge

  • Proven experience in strategic implementation, stakeholder management, support to governance forums, Excel modelling /analysis, and MIs / performance metrics/
  • Should be a problem solver, visualizer & critical thinker.
  • Outstanding understanding of HSBC structures, processes and objectives across the Group.
  • Sound knowledge of Wholesale (CMB and GB) – functionally, operationally, and financially.
  • Outstanding relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in simple language both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build strong working relationships across a globally distributed matrix environment.
