Human Resources leads the implementation of the Group’s people strategy in line with business objectives. It facilitates talent management, succession planning and employee mobility while defining and overseeing frameworks that support employee performance management, reward, learning and development, resourcing and engagement.

We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join the HR team in the role of Assistant Manager, People Solution and Advice, Japan.

Description of the role

This Assistant Manager, People Solution and Advice role supports the effective execution of people agenda for designated business/function to enable business performance. The incumbent advises the business and functional line management and people managers on the development and integration of the people strategy to drive business growth and achieve organizational priorities. This role will be located within the Human Resources function of Japan, reporting to the Head of Human Resources, Japan.

Tasks and responsibilities of the job holder includes the following:

    Provide proactive HR support to bankwide business & function and ensuring execution is aligned to Group HR policy and practices

    Supporting the delivery of HR processes for the designated business/function which may include: organisational development, performance management, annual pay review, recruitment, succession planning, workforce exercises and forecasting, mutual separation and redundancy related preparation, HR case related management and training and development

    Manage designated business/function stakeholder relationships and related communication acting as a point of contact for HR related needs

    Supporting employee related programs and initiatives both within and external to the HR function

    Uses the people and culture metrics to support the anticipation and identification of local trends, people and culture development, employee relation risks and learning needs within the business/function and recommend solutions

    Supports identification of talent pool candidates, promoting career development, coaching and development planning within the designated business/function

    Assists the business/function manage employee development by providing guidance to line management and employees on performance management process and manage performance related issues, support the implementation of reward processes and re/deployment of employees

    Manage people risks effectively, including resolution of any employee conduct risk or employment practice issues working closely with the business/functional line owners and specialist teams where relevant.

    Works with the business/function to develop and maintain a positive employee relations environment.  Support employee grievance, behavior, and conduct investigations, assist in interviews, engage in assessing conduct risk severity and prepare investigation reports

    Collaborate and support senior HR stakeholders locally, in the region and other HR teams in working to streamline established HR processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness

    Reviews established HR policies to align with the changing needs of the business/functions

    Possessing a good understanding of local employment law and knowledge of access to expert advice when required.

    Work with other functions of HR and partner together to achieve overall HR strategies and goals.

    Collaborate in a small HR team environment and serve as backup to the other HR functions.

    Learn the responsibilities of other HR functions and work together to streamlining and simplify HR processes.

    Role model HSBC values and behaviors supporting critical HR projects and initiatives.Ensure all activities adhere to prevailing HSBC process design, policy, and relevant Group and local regulatory standards

l  Business level English communication skill is a must.

l  Fluency in written, reading, and spoken Japanese required

l  Degree in the Human Resources related discipline is preferred

l  Five to seven years of relevant Human Resources experience in large multinational organization

l  Knowledge of HR policies and procedures, and legal and regulatory frameworks in Financial Services industry

l  Strong local market knowledge and good network in the HR community

l  Proven track record of successful implementation of people strategy, programs, and initiatives

l  Highly developed presentation skills with strong numerical and analytical capabilities

l  Demonstrate commercial acumen and understanding of the business/function, balancing it with HR priorities/initiatives
