Purpose of the job
- To be an integral team member of the equity strategy team within Global Research:
- Work closely with senior analysts in the equity strategy team
- Has a good understanding of local equity indices/benchmarks and GICS/ICB sectors. Knowledge on EM stock markets would be added advantage
- Able to generate a theme based on the current macro-economic scenarios and its investment implications.
- Perform detailed analysis and should be able to give recommendation on the countries/sectors. Should be able to articulate thoughts in a report. Writes research reports which are clear, consistent, and non-consensual and supported
- Maintain and update various databases
- Monitor models and summarize market conditions and opportunities
- Contributing to research publications
- Work on requests in a timely and accurate manner
Skill Set
- Strong domain knowledge on equity markets and understanding of GICS/ICB sectors
- Strong technical skills are required in the following areas: a) analysing countries/sector by doing cross sectional and time series analysis, b) advanced financial modelling, c) writing research reports
- Capable of analysing current macroeconomic and market scenarios to identify trends, develop thematic insights and produce comprehensive reports
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently; comfortable in dealing with huge data sets
- Good working understanding of financials databases
- Hands on experience in MS excel, and VBA would be plus
- Flexible approach to workload and demands of the role
- Minimum Graduation or as required for the role, whichever is higher
- Minimum 10+ years of work experience in equity strategy
- Understanding of financial markets and various asset classes is a must
- Must know how to use Python language with financial data
- Systems –
o Proficient with MS Excel and other Office applications
o Knowledge of financial databases such as FactSet, Bloomberg, DataStream and/or Morning Star
Global risk objective
- Understand and adhere to both the letter and the spirit of all laws, regulations and regulatory guidance that apply to the role, promptly reporting any breaches in accordance with local procedures.
- Maintain sufficient and effective processes and controls identifying and mitigating risks and ensure timely escalation and resolution of all control issues and reputation risks

- DIM/FIM: Adherence to Global Research’s policies and procedures as laid out in the Desk Instruction Manual (DIM), Functional Instruction Manual (FIM) and any other relevant group policies and procedures
- Conduct Risk: Adherence to: (1) the Conduct Risk agenda, ensuring full compliance with the High Performance Culture and Values programme; (2) Group directives regarding Global Standards; (3) the Three Lines of Defence
- Mandatory Training: Ensure 100% completion of your mandatory training on time
