Human Resources leads the implementation of the Group’s people strategy in line with business objectives. It facilitates talent management, succession planning and employee mobility while defining and overseeing frameworks that support employee performance management, reward, learning and development, resourcing and engagement.

We are currently seeking a leader, with a proven track record, to join our team in the role of Business Change & Industrial Relations Lead - Malaysia. The incumbent will have overall Employee Relations Accountability for Malaysia Along with being a lead in the Business Change & Industrial Relations Centre of Excellence.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Ensuring consistent implementation of Organizational guidelines around conduct, diversity and wellness within a diverse and complex multi-location country ensuring appropriate balance between risk and business outcomes
  • Drive Capability Development by leading, coaching and developing Human Resource Generalist colleagues and Line Managers on Employee Relations aspects.
  • Liaise with various internal stake holders including but not limited to Group Employee Relations, HSBC Confidential to effectively strategize and manage complex issues including Disciplinary Issues, Grievances, HSBC Confidential, Executive Escalations, Capability processes
  • Drive seamless business transformations while fostering constructive Industrial Relations- ensuring restructuring activities are executed efficiently, union and social partnerships are strengthened, and people risks are proactively mitigated.
  • Liaise with various external stakeholders including but not limited to recognized and non-recognized unions and legal counsels
  • Manage complex and sensitive industrial relations negotiations and industrial disputes to achieve best outcomes and mitigate reputational and litigation risks
  • Collaborate and partner with Human Resource Advisories, Human Resource Consultant, Human Resource Business Partners, other Global Service Owners within the Human Resource organization and with Businesses and Functions to provide appropriate support for execution of business strategies by mitigating the risk
  • Provide guidelines and support businesses and function with organizational design and restructuring exercises including redundancies and offshoring 
  • Provide People Risk Management support to the Human Resource function
  • Provide advice regarding the management of employee relations issues, including internal investigations, and prompt problem resolution
  • Support identification, assessment and mitigation of Employment Practice and Relations Risks
Requirements
  • Significant experience in handling complex Industrial Relations and Employee Relations matters (CBA negotiations, Industrial disputes, disciplinary, grievances, capability cases) either within a dedicated Employee Relations role, legal or Human Resource generalist or transformation role
  • High business acumen and ability to understand changing business trends
  • Solid knowledge of labour and employment legislations and application to the business context
  • A clear and concise communication style with strong interpersonal and skills
  • Strong investigation and report writing skills
  • Well-developed organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Flexible and able to multi-task and re-prioritise
  • Ability to work with and constructively influence multiple stakeholders
  • Experience of working in successfully navigate a complex organizational structure
  • People management experience
