Global Markets is part of our HSBC Corporate and Institutional Banking division, a markets-led, financing-focused business that provides investment and financial solutions. Our Markets business is one of the largest of its kind in the world. It combines sophisticated 24-hour global coverage with a detailed knowledge of local markets. Our services are offered both online and offline in 58 countries and territories. We specialise in foreign exchange, credits and rates, structured derivatives, equities and debt, equity and equity-linked capital markets.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Chief Operating Officer – Asia Pacific – Institutional Sales.

The COO is responsible for running the Institutional Sales in Asia Pacific in an efficient manner whilst also maintaining control of the cost base.

They are required to partner with Products (GFX & Emerging Rates, Equities, Securities Services, Global Debt Markets) and Banking to deliver ad hoc and strategic initiatives for the business across Institutional sectors and asset classes, including supporting the continued growth of our Wealth proposition.

The COO is also working closely with the MSS Non Financial Risk team alongside the whole Institutional Sales business to maintain a strong control environment and client & product suitability ensuring all risks are understood, monitored and reported to manage within appetite.

In addition, the role focuses as well on Sales performance, driving better efficiency and owning the People Experience agenda.

A COO that fulfils this purpose will allow Institutional Sales to deliver first class service and outcomes to our clients’ base.

Requirements
  • Proven track record of implementing global change programmes
  • Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in clear language.
  • Deep understanding of HSBC structures, processes and objectives, especially in the risk environment
  • Proven abilities in managing and coordinating globally dispersed teams
  • COO or Risk and Control management experience within a markets, treasury or securities services environment would be an advantage
