About the Role 

The role is within a Commodities Primary Trade System team operating in DevOps model with several staff in Toronto, London, HK and Guangzhou. The global Apollo team numbers 13 people split in functional pods across the regions, with support coverage by each. There are several services managed in addition to the main Murex system. It's therefore expected that this role in Toronto required to provide initial incident cover for a range of services in Commodities technology platform.  

Applications in Commodities team including Murex, Gemini, and several microservices. We are also working closely with Global FX Compute team. 

Murex (version 3.1) is a vendor solution. It is used by Commodities business for Risk Management, Trade Lifecycle management and Reporting. 

Apollo Murex is a global instance supporting 3 main hubs - London, HK and NY with daily average volume of 20k trades. The platform supports a wide range of products such as futures, forwards, leases, and swaps. 

As our Commodities DevOps Engineer you will: 

  • Provide functional support for Front Office, Middle Office and Sales users including assistance with PnL and Risks investigation 
  • Analysis of trade lifecycle issue including reporting, working with the Back Office to analyse Front to Back issues
  • Communicate with the Business, Murex, IT development and support teams to capture requirements, develop and release necessary changes 
  • Providing functional advice and support to other members of the global team 
  • Delivering bug fixes to production using continuous delivery methodologies 
  • Contribute to the knowledge base to enhance effectiveness of pod and triage layer 
  • Contribute to Monitoring and alerting 
Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role: 

  •  Detailed Knowledge of Commodities Derivatives 
  • Strong Murex application knowledge: Simulations, PnL, Risk, Datamart, General Settings, Market Data Import, MxML Exchange 
  • Software Engineering 
  • Bash scripting 
  • Relational Databases, SQL proficiency 
  • Excellent communication, verbal and written 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure without sacrificing accuracy and quality 
  • Production incident management 
  • Experience working as part of geographically diverse team 
  • Investment Banking IT background desirable, as is experience of working in a front office environment 
  • Previous experience supporting Commodities businesses 
  • Java & Kotlin coding
