We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Director, Fund Services Product Management.
Role Purpose
Securities Services (SSv) provides robust and reliable solutions that enhance performance and mitigate risk, today and in the future. Working with institutional investors, banks, insurance companies, governments and multinational corporations, Securities Services offers a range of fund administration, global custody, sub-custody and clearing, and corporate trust and loan agency services.
The Role will be accountable for the end-to-end client proposition, growth and development of the Fund Administration solutions, ensuring the client needs, current and future, are met. The role sits between that of Sales (Growth agenda), Delivery, Operations and Technology (Execution Agenda) ensuring that we execute efficiently, develop our capabilities, and identify and capitalize on opportunities (new products and markets). You will be expected to be lead complex client deliveries and remediation programs as product SME and in doing so be the go to person on all matters relating to Fund Services internally and externally for Securities Services in ASEAN. This role will report to the Global Head of Funds.
This will include:
- Lead and drive the ongoing development of the Fund Accounting and Valuation product propositions in Asia in line with agreed strategic objectives. This represents holistic, cross product view of products and services supporting all client segments.
- Follow internal product management and SSv governance framework, including maintaining standard product documentations, change & delivery triage, following the value stream construct and appropriate approval processes as required.
- Lead complex client deliveries and remediation programs as the product SME to achieve stabilisation of operations and client sentiment.
- Be responsible for product roadmap and development across ASEAN markets, including securing budget, balancing resources and measuring against sub-value stream OKRs.
- Develop and maintain standard product artifacts such as the product catalogue and Target Servicing Models.
- Drive operational stabalization through digitalisation and removal of manual processes. The role holder will be a key responsible lead to resolve open business improvement plans and client improvement plans.
- Execute productstandardisation programs and platform rationalisation for ASEAN clients based on the Future State Architecture as set forth by the business.
- Proactively manage risks associated with the product lifecycle, promptly documenting, providing plans of resolution and monitoring against closure of open risk items as pertains to ASEAN
- The role holder will be responsible for audit of the Fund Services function for ASEAN and is expected to equipped with a risk management mindset.
- Drive digitisation across the whole Fund Services value chain for internal and external users, including but not limited to the rollout of the client portal, automated reporting platform and other tooling to reduce manual processes.
- Identify and assess value of new services and impact of market and regulatory developments for all client segments working in conjunction with sales colleagues and other key stakeholders.
- Manage products with the objective of improving of the overall profitability of the Securities Services business and enhancing client experience; drive revenue by managing product CIR and efficiency by maximising consistent use of technology and operating model.
- Represent HSBC externally and internally with authority in all matters relating to Fund Services products. This will include amongst clients, regulators, advisers etc. in conferences, industry associations and other settings.
- Support Sales and Client Executives in executing segment-based sales plans and assessing product solutions for prospective and existing clients. Lead product representation during sales and RFP process.
- Ensure target clients match product capability with input to pricing decisions on material client mandates. Engage and communicate with top quartile of clients to engrain segment value proposition and understand future client requirements, supporting client forums, user group.
- Engaging with functions in all relevant SSv locations to understand client requirements for the client segments and to communicate the product strategy and design to ensure a consistent message is delivered to existing and potential clients.
About you
You will be commercially and strategically minded with responsibility to develop and execute a Fund Services strategy that aligns to the wider securities services strategy. You will be a networker who can navigate a complex organisation, both internally within Securities Services but externally with partners such as the relationship bankers. You will be able to balance the needs of growth and risk justifying actions and evidencing sector and product viewpoints. A strong influencer to achieve the outcomes required, but also resourceful and tenacious.
You will possess:
- Regional reach of the role demand credible ability to operate across and with all Securities Services markets, with a particular focus in ASEAN markets
- Formal degree - MBA or finance qualification in a relevant discipline, for example accountancy, actuarial, etc
- A minimum of 15 years' relevant experience in the financial services industry with a good understanding of fund administration, transfer agency and related mid/back-office requirements of asset managers and owners
- Strong appreciation and understanding of the impact of regulatory change on SSv and its clients
- Strong client or external stakeholder management skills

Role Dimensions
Strategic Development
- Lead the development and execution of vision and strategy for the Product function in ASEAN.
- Drive activities which will further increase the profile in the market of HSBC as a leading provider Securities Services.
- Drive the development and maintenance of the different Product Roadmap.
- Champion the team, partners, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and direction of the products.
Market and Product Management
- Drive and own end-to-end operating model for the FA products. This includes the oversight of the services and the systems infrastructure.
- Raise market awareness of HSBC as a leading provider of Securities Services.
- Represent Securities Services with authority in dealings with industry bodies, consultants, competitor organizations and appropriate other third parties as well as market infrastructure change initiatives.
- Drive delivery of new product insights via multiple channels.
Client Development
- Provide product expertise to Business Development and Client Executives in sales pitches, client meetings, key RFP’s etc.
- Actively engage and cooperate with Data & Digital to develop market leading solutions for our clients.
- Work closely with leadership in Client Management on improvements and enhancements of client satisfaction levels
- Work with Division, Bank and Group colleagues to ensure that joint internal and external opportunities for cross revenue generation are maximized.
Business Management
- Oversee preparation of an annual product management plans/roadmaps and maintain standard rate cards for the products.
- Actively drive a consistent excellent internal and external reputation.
- Drive efficiencies to reduce cost and improve profitability of the product.
- In cooperation with Product Delivery, Funds Services Technology, Data & Digital and Operations develop and maintain a high service quality and a continuous quality improvement plan for our clients.
- Annual change budget planning in cooperation with Business & Commercial Management.
- Ensure appropriate organizational structures, systems, procedures and controls are utilized to support the products.
Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and legal requirements. This includes as well internal Group Standards Manual, relevant Functional Instruction Manuals and Business Instruction Manuals.
- Minimize operational, reputational and financial risk, as appropriate through close cooperation with Operations, Fund Services Technology as well as Data & Digital
- Ensure that products attain satisfactory, or higher, internal and external audit ratings.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Demonstrate robust influencing and organizational skills as the role involves a very significant element of ‘virtual’ people management given the breadth of internal stakeholders.
