Enterprise Technology brings together all areas of financial crime risk management at HSBC including anti- money laundering, transaction monitoring, screening, risk assessment etc. and is dedicated to implement the most effective global standards to combat financial crime. Director of Engineering role is part of Finance Treasury IT function. We are scaling our cloud-native treasury delivery capability beyond China, and Poland is positioned to be our next major delivery hub. We are seeking a hands-on engineering leader to scale a high-performing team, establish engineering excellence, and serve as the delivery anchor for our modern treasury stack.
What you’ll do
• Build and scale the Poland engineering team into a 15–20-person centre of excellence
• Define and implement the local delivery model and engineering best practices
• Hire, mentor, and retain top talent across backend, cloud, and DevOps domains
• Collaborate with technical leads in China and architecture functions
• Define delivery KPIs and drive independent ownership culture
• Represent Treasury Engineering in Poland and grow local tech brand
• Manage delivery and stakeholder management
What you need to have to succeed in this role:
• 12+ years in software engineering with public cloud (any of cloud platform - GCP, AWS, Azure) experience
• At least 3 years of technical team leading experience
• Proficiency in Java programming language and Springboot
• Experience building and scaling high-performing engineering teams (e.g. DORA metrics)
• Expertise in microservices, containers, cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes)
• Experience navigating global, multi-location delivery models
• Excellent communication and culture-building capabilities
• Treasury or finance domain experience is a plus
