This role requires deep technical expertise in Oracle databases, along with a strong understanding of distributed platform architecture, Linux-based deployments, and the operational needs of enterprise-scale services. You will provide horizontal support across services, acting as a senior technical partner to development and DevOps teams, and owning infrastructure matters beyond the scope of routine Unix/DB administration.
This position includes occasional weekend work and potential on-call availability aligned to global service requirements.
What you’ll do
- Provide infrastructure engineering expertise across on-premises platforms supporting automation and workload orchestration services.
- Act as the SME for Oracle DB performance, configuration, resilience, and fault diagnosis.
- Lead infrastructure design reviews and advise on architecture improvements and scalability.
- Collaborate with DevOps support teams to troubleshoot complex OS/DB/application interactions.
- Support environment planning, capacity allocation, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
- Contribute to the automation of recurring infrastructure tasks using scripting and configuration tools.
- Partner with global engineering and vendor teams to ensure deployment standards are met.
- Participate in production support rotations, including scheduled weekend work and on-call duties.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Extensive experience in Oracle database administration and performance tuning in enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of Linux-based infrastructure and distributed system design.
- Experience supporting services related to workload orchestration or managed file transfer (e.g. Control-M, SFG).
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation and scripting tools (e.g. Shell, Python, Ansible).
- Ability to work independently and solve complex, cross-platform issues involving multiple layers.
- Solid understanding of platform security, patching, and operational resilience best practices.
- Excellent collaboration skills across global infrastructure and application teams.
- Willingness to support occasional weekend deployments and take part in on-call rotations.
