Vendor Manager’s role sits within Chief Technology Office (CTO) division, and its key goal is to support commercial strategy and execution across the Group’s portfolio, including identifying consolidation opportunities, contributing to build vs buy assessments, and exploring open-source migration options. This role suits someone who combines technology awareness with strong stakeholder and commercial skills to help shape vendor strategy, improve performance, and deliver value for money.
The role requires a structured end-to-end vendor lifecycle management —from selection and onboarding through performance management, renewal, or exit—maximising value, managing risk, and ensuring vendors deliver against CTO and business priorities.
You’ll partner up with Senior Vendor Managers, Procurement, Finance, Architecture, Operational Management and Risk to deliver vendor management activities, maintain strong governance, and support adherence to the Vendor Management Target Operating Model (TOM).
What you’ll do
• Work closely with Senior Vendor Managers, Global Area Leads, Heads of Operations Management, Procurement, Cost and Contract Managers and wider stakeholders to deliver common objectives in the Third Party space.
• Support management of renewals/pipeline with sufficient time to scrutinise and/or make changes; maintain trackers, RAID items, actions and decision points.
• Analyse options and support the development of business cases, including gathering inputs, structuring materials and documenting assumptions, benefits and risks.
• Review existing contracts and support assessment of SLAs and other T&Cs to help confirm vendor service is meeting requirements; highlight gaps and remediation actions.
• Support process improvement across end-to-end pipeline management and reviews through to approvals (templates, pack quality, workflow discipline, reporting).
• Work with Operations Management representatives and Finance to identify, plan and support execution of cost optimisation initiatives; track progress and benefits realisation.
• Support alignment of key parties to agree objectives and contribute to development of Tech/Business strategy materials and vendor plans.
• Provide Third Party requirements and support Procurement, Ops Mgmt. team with commercial negotiation preparation, assessment and deal structuring (e.g., data gathering, benchmarking inputs, pack preparation, minutes/actions).
What you need to have to succeed in this role
• Proven track record (5+ years) in technology vendor management role within the financial services industry.
• Strong understanding of technology landscape, industry and operational management requirements for banks and knowledge of the external environment - regulatory, political, competitor and market.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make data-driven decisions to drive business outcomes.
• Ability to translate technology strategy and align with vendors accordingly.
• Strong stakeholder management capability and excellent communication at all levels of seniority.
• Experience in development of business cases, initiative execution, and benefits realization.
• Deep financial and commercial awareness.
• Contract knowledge with the ability to support contract reviews and ensure documentation meets business needs (with Procurement/legal owning drafting and negotiation where applicable).
