HSBC Australia’s Markets and Securities Services (M&SS) Business Graduate Programme is one of the most exciting entry points to start a career in the world of banking.

What can you Expect?

The programme provides you with the knowledge, skills and exposure on which successful banking careers are built. The work you will do in the first 12 months of the 18 month programme you will be working within the Markets Treasury team, which is a specialist area  within M&SS. Markets Treasury is a significant contributor to the revenue of the Group, with staff in over 50 sites worldwide spanning the various Group balance sheets. Markets Treasury provides input into local Asset & Liability Management Committee (ALCO) and liaises extensively with matters related to Asset, Liability & Capital Management.

In this role you will learn responsibilities for the management of funding, liquidity, structural interest rate risk and the investment book of the Bank. You will be joining a small dynamic team engaging senior stakeholder across the bank and facing external market participants.

You may also be rotated to other parts of MSS over the full programme period of 18 months. You will have the chance to build key transferable skills through a combination of formal learning and workplace based experiential learning. Our programme is designed to support you to identify your strengths and show case them at the end of your rotations.

What you will do

Over the course of your time with us, you will :

·       Work on key initiatives that help you understand how Markets Treasury maintains the stability of HSBC and supports our growth.

·       Make an impact by playing a role in managing the bank’s capital, balance sheet, liquidity, interest rate risk and funding strategy.

·       Optimizing risk/reward for the bank through active and dynamic management of interest rate risk

·       Experience first-hand how Markets Treasury helps to shape the success of HSBC, enabling us to make smarter decisions around resource allocation, strategic planning and more.

·       Play a key role in the production of insightful analysis and reports, collaborating with different teams and actively contributing to important programmes along the way.

·       Develop the skills you’ll need for a versatile and fulfilling career that opens a world of opportunity.

To be considered for our programme candidates must have:

 

- Completed a Bachelor or Master’s degree with a minimum Distinction average;

- Strong numerical and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail

- Possess a maximum of one years related work experience

- Be able to commence full time employment in February 2025

- Prior work or intern experience within a related field will be highly regarded as well as any unique experience or skills which makes you unique; and

- Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency or full working rights.
