What you will do:

You will endorse a critical role to ensure appropriate FC and RC coverage of Europe and HBCE WPB. You will act as the Regional Compliance EUROPE (incl. CE) manager for all WPB line of business (covering Retail Business, Asset Management, Private Banking and Insurance) in relation to Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime risks.

 

In this role you will:

  • Provide expert compliance advice, guidance, support and challenge for our retail outsourced activities, as Risk stewardship of all compliance risks, maintenance and challenge of RCA, CDD requirements for our customers according to HSBC group standards including EWRA / PRAM, handling customer requests and complaints as well as Ombudsman complaints and reports, provide response to requests and investigations from regulators
  • Provide advice for all risks (key existing and emerging risks) and the associated conduct impact and customer outcomes of these risks; provide guidance, opinions, direction to the local Compliance teams with the necessary advice, expertise and guidance to ensure that business is conducted in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, codes of practice and global RBWM standards;
  • Support the local WPB EUROPE Compliance team during transformation project deployment and ensure consistency around HBCE regulatory requirements
  • Exercise risk steward challenge, act as independent trusted advisory in governance forums, issue management, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with risk owners and control owners.
  • Provide ongoing oversight and challenge of the 1LOD at HBCE and EUROPE  level in embedding Risk Policy and ongoing monitoring of the policies’ compliance; and Support the 1LOD at regional level in setting and managing their risk appetite and risk acceptance approach including the provision of oversight and challenge to ongoing monitoring and remediation plans.
  • Act as the Regional Compliance EUROPE manager for WPB LoBs in relation to Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime risks.
  • Act as a key point of contact in the EUROPE Compliance WPB for Regulatory Affairs’ matters: supporting regulatory engagements and developments of the WPB business, performing gap analysis on the impacts at the EUROPE level; ensuring the ongoing maintenance of the WPB Regulatory Mapping activities.
  • Challenging and reviewing implementable policies, supporting the business with implementation, actively monitoring compliance with the policies and robustly challenging ad escalating non-compliance as required.
  • Deliver regular compliance training and awareness sessions to staff on compliance matters within HBCE structure Chart.
Requirements

You should apply if you have: 

  • Significant (a minimum of 5) of prior experience in Compliance;
  • A high level of knowledge of French and European legal and regulatory requirements particularly with respect to Wealth and Private Banking Business;
  • A proven track record and experience in overseeing Compliance risk as risk steward;
  • Significant level of autonomy;
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills (French and English).
  • Good interpersonal skills are essential as the jobholder will have to work in coordination with executives at all levels including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management and policy.
  • Experience with working within a matrixed environment preferred
  • Soft skills are key such as as positive mindset/ collaboration within Europe Compliance structure, and solution oriented .
