We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Head of CIB Marketing Planning & Performance.
Role Purpose
- We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and highly collaborative Global Head of Marketing, Planning & Performance to lead the operational core of our global marketing function for Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB). This role is accountable for aligning global marketing investments with business priorities, managing strategic planning processes, and driving performance reporting to ensure marketing contributes measurable value to business growth.
- As a senior leader and strategic partner to the Global Heads of Business Marketing and Client & Sector Marketing and Digital Marketing, this individual will lead efforts in annual planning, investment modelling, marketing ROI analysis, and executive reporting, enabling insight-driven decision-making and scalable execution across markets and business lines.
- This role is critical to ensuring that marketing aligns with the bank’s global priorities and demonstrates clear, measurable impact on business performance. It’s ideal for a marketing operations leader who thrives on data, strategy, and cross-functional execution.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing Planning
- Lead the global marketing planning process for CIB, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy, business goals, and growth opportunities.
- Translate commercial objectives into prioritized marketing initiatives, with a clear view of required investment, resources, and expected impact.
- Coordinate the global marketing calendar and campaign roadmap across client segments, sectors, and product verticals
Budget & Investment Management
- Oversee the global marketing budget across CIB, ensuring strategic allocation of resources and optimized ROI.
- Develop and maintain investment models to evaluate marketing mix performance, channel efficiency, and spend effectiveness.
- Partner with Finance and Business Management to align on forecasts, business cases, and return on investment frameworks.
Performance Measurement & Reporting
- Build and manage a comprehensive marketing performance dashboard tied to key business metrics: pipeline influence, client engagement, brand health, campaign ROI, and channel performance.
- Deliver monthly and quarterly executive reporting to senior marketing and business leadership.
- Establish KPIs and benchmarks for all major marketing initiatives, in partnership with data and analytics teams
Governance, Process & Operational Excellence
- Drive governance and operational rigor across marketing planning, budgeting, approvals, and execution processes.
- Champion the use of best-in-class tools, platforms, and measurement methodologies across the global marketing function.
- Ensure marketing teams are equipped with the data, insights, and operational support needed to execute effectively and at scale
Leadership & Teamwork
- Act as a strategic partner to the Heads of Business and Client/Sector Marketing and Digital to support go-to-market prioritization, capacity planning, and business alignment.
- Support marketing leadership with business case development for new programs and capabilities.
- Enable a performance-driven culture through transparency, insight, and continuous improvement.
- Lead from the front as an advocate for Agile Principles and drive an Agile way of working in your team and beyond to leverage cross functional expertise.
- Lead by example in transparently promoting the organization’s values and delivering in an aligned manner.
- Create an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.
Requirements
Functional Knowledge
- Extensive years of experience in marketing operations, performance, or strategy roles within a global financial services or B2B environment.
- Proven expertise in marketing planning, investment modelling, ROI analysis, and executive-level reporting.
- Strong understanding of the institutional banking landscape, including product lines such as transaction banking, capital markets, and structured financing.
- Highly analytical, with a strong command of marketing KPIs, business metrics, and financial modelling.
- Experience working in complex, matrixed organizations and partnering across business, finance, and marketing leadership.
- Strong communicator with the ability to synthesize and present insights to senior stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Finance, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
