We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Financial Planning and Analysis. 

Principal Responsibilities

In this role you will

  • Strategic and commercially focused Finance leadership role working directly with the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Committee (EXCO) providing action-focused and timely financial insights to support the optimization of the business
  • Work closely with the Chief Distribution Officers, Chief Product and Propositions Officer, and Chief Actuary to ensure optimal business outcomes for the sustainable growth of the company
  • Ensure strong financial discipline is maintained around all business initiatives, assessment of supporting business cases
  • Proactively monitor sales volumes and mix, and costs (management expenses & distribution costs):
    • Lead the delivery of the company’s annual operating plan (the ‘Financial Resources Plan’) and leadership of business forecasts around sales, P&L, new business value, embedded value, return on equity of the company
    • Provide clear explanations to senior stakeholders of the key financial metrics of the company and their drivers, and provide oversight over the compensation paid to the distributors (internal and external bancassurance partners, Agency, IFAs, brokers, Singpost), assess the efficiency of the campaigns being run to support the achievement of the plans
  • Overseeing two sub teams - Business Finance and Performance Optimisation:
    • Business Finance: Support timely management information production, control and understanding of management expenses; leading the Financial Resources Plan; Performance Optimisation: Ensure revenue and its drivers (including distribution compensation) are understood to optimise shareholder outcomes
  • Regularly analyse industry trends and best practices to assess the company’s performance against competitors and extract pertinent market insights and present at the company’s Board meetings on the financial performance of the company
Requirements

To be successful you will need

  • Good knowledge in actuarial, finance (IFRS17) and accounting concepts, with a supporting professional qualification
  • Proven experience in business & performance analysis, with experience in a leadership role
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas to diverse audiences
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of driving results and implementing innovative solutions
  • Experience working in Life Insurance Industry & Understanding of IFRS17 is a plus
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to deliver amongst conflicting priorities, and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, including department heads, executives, and bank partners, to understand their needs and deliver value-added solutions
  • Ability to effectively assess risks associated with business decisions and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively and to manage and mentor a team of business analysts, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful execution of projects and initiatives, with experience in management of medium sized teams
